Bought a new house - now for the transformations!

Well, pretty much as soon as my wife and I got back from our honeymoon in April we started looking for a house, and found one pretty quickly too. It needs some work and luckily we can get some done before we move in.

I've created a gallery of what work we are doing. I took some photos a couple weeks back for before shots, and we got in and started over the Queens Birthday long weekend.

I'll be trying to keep it up to date as we progress. Painting will continue over this week (my wife has the week off to do it) and floorboards throughout most of the house this weekend, moving in straight afterwards.

Thanks, yeah that third bedroom will be a little music/computer room for me for the time being. Once we're about to have children we'll either extend the house a little or buy a bigger one.

Make sure to sound proof it as you have new neighbors

Trust me, I'm speaking from experience here

Congrats on the house and the marriage, Phantom!!

Oh yeah, since your wife is going to be doing the painting at least make sure you help pick out the colors unless you want 40 shades of ~PINK~

No need to worry about the paint colours my friend. My wife is not a pink colour girl at all. Our lounge area will be white with a denim blue feature wall where the TV will go, Kitchen/Dining will be the same white with 1 or 2 light-ish brown feature walls, hall and rooms will continue the white and what ever colours we have left will go towards features in the bedrooms.

Courtney, that was a rice paper lantern light cover that was probably white, but now grease brown! It was disgusting, and who could be stupid enough to put a paper light fitting over a hotplate!??!

felipe, that was probably years of disgusting fat and grease. We thought it would never clean up, but after a couple days scrubbing and soaking it's actually come up ok! We'll replace it (and the rest of the appliances) anyway with some stainless steel stuff when we can get the kitchen relaminated.

Thanks everyone for the well-wishes . We're working hard to get as much done before we move in next week, but we've both fallen ill which really sucks! Hopefully we can finish the painting before we lay the flooring on the weekend, we'll see how we go...

Congratualtions! What suburb? I used to live in Canberra.

We're moving into a new (rented) house next week. 3 bedrooms: one for my partner and I, one for our baby boy, and one as a shared music room and art studio. We plan to stay there for a year, then buy somewhere.
