Buy and Sell Section. Make up your mind!

Lately people are just posting adds here there and everywhere with no price, then closing the add or taking it off because they need to research first. Is it just me or does it get to some people?

Agreed. If you are going to post a for sale ad for a guitar. Post the price, and some pics. Make no sense not to. The whole, email me for pics thing is backwards. You want to sell it? Post a darn pic man. It ain't that hard.

Probably they have second thoughts of selling their guitars....

I agree -- not posting a pic is pretty silly. However, some peole still don't know how to do it. Maybe a sticky at the top of the section explaining how to post pics would be useful.

It's not just here.....
I saw an ad on the local craigslist today "Guitar effects pedals for sale", so I clicked on the link to see what the guy had.

"E-mail me for list" was the best he could do.

It's pretty sad, when you're trying to spend your money to have to beat the details out of the seller.

+1
I don't care if I'm buying bubble wrap in bulk, dammit I want pics.
Unless some of the sellers think there are a plethora of morons at this site that will spend hundreds, sometimes thousands, of dollars on items, sight unseen.

And like Darin said, that whole "email me for pics" crap is obnoxious. They need to take a Intro to Business class or something. You have to make the buyers interested right from the get go.

Re: Buy and Sell Section. Make up your mind!

I can understand if someone requests that they be emailed for pic requests IF the guitar is a higher-end because God knows that if a scammer is looking to steal pix for a fraud Ibanez auction, this site is ripe for the picking.

When people aren't forthright about other details, it is irritating.

I see people people listing their item with no price, and asking for offers. C'mon they should know the rules man.

Re: Buy and Sell Section. Make up your mind!

Why doesn't someone start up a "how-to sell items on jemsite guide" detailing the entire process with pics?

The other trend I'm seeing lately is that people from overseas will post up an ad for their axe and since the axe is quite rare, all they want to do is trade it so they don't have to post a price. Big no-no in my book. There should be a strict trade category right below the "Comments to Ibanez" category.

Re: Buy and Sell Section. Make up your mind!

i've tweaked the classified rules recently to sorta guide people but it's just that people just don't read such a "guide" or utilize common sense. i mean if you're new or a veteran of a site and want to sell something you need alot of good pictures to identify AND verify the item.

that said if someone wants to put together a "guide" i'll try to incorporate it in there.. glen

Personally I'd like to see a rule against FS adds that you click on and the description starts "I'm considering selling my xxxxx, but not sure yet"

If it's not for sale dont post the ad.

Re: Buy and Sell Section. Make up your mind!

The no pic thing has always baffled me. The E-mail for pics thing is annoying.

These people must be morons???

Though this does save me from dealing with the obvious morons, I will never buy anything from any of those people.

Pics, Price, Location at minimum...it's not that hard.
