Re: Buying from USA?

customs is around 27 % and the cheapest shipping would be around 160 quid

Re: Buying from USA?

Cheapest and quickest is probably USPS at approximately $125 for a guitar with hard case. Although they quote 2 to 5 days, I've waited up 2-3 weeks before they delivered! Mind you it was around the Xmas period.
Taxes are 17.5% VAT and EU Import Duty around 5%. Also, ParcelForce have their own tax!!!!!!!!!!!! They'll charge you a fee for processing the delivery, basically a rip off. This is around £10-£20 depending on what it is.

The tax is calculated on the price of the goods or service So if they are carrying out some work on your guitar, then you pay the tax on the value of work carried out and not the value of the guitar

Probably at your home if you're in when they deliver it, or at the Parcel 'Farce' depot if you go and pick it up.

You can pay either with your card over the phone or otherwise like Bikeman says, you'll have to go and collect and pay cash.

I hate the ****ers.

Man, that is quite hefty. Here in Singapore, the import duty is about 5% of the total cost of the purchase.

Re: Buying from USA?

It's whatever value the seller puts on it. Now and again they get cute if they think you're undercharging stuff and they'll research it and charge you the highest possible price.

That means you're getting them for around $810 each shipped, or $650 before shipping.

Thats either a great price, or you've made a mistake.

Re: Buying from USA?

Well, look at it this way, to buy them all seperately here in the U.K. with shipping and insurance it would cost me around £2600 which is $5126, so all 3 from the U.S.A for $3470(with insurance and delivery) which is around £1600 over here is a great price for me. I just hope the delivery goes nice and smooth.

Re: Buying from USA?

when I imported my amp and multi FX from singaore to UK with DHL, I dont need to pay any tax. I carried the guitar with myself and no duty paid as well.

If seller mention that's the gift, do I still need to pay VAT plus import duty?

Re: Buying from USA?

Dude, don't.
Might not be as expensive as buying from countries outside of the EU in Sweden, but it's bad enough. Over here, it's ~33% of the product value plus some exorbitant shipping charge, meaning the price-difference must be ludicrous in order for the deal to be worth the hassle and extra costs. In other cases, just look whether you really need all of those three. It can end up a great deal, but it's already got all the makings of an astronomical headache.
