Can anyone do Linear Algebra? I really need some help with a series of questions. Is anyone able to help me? In return I could transcribe a song or something.....

Re: Can anyone do Linear Algebra???

You really should persevere to learn algebra, it will release infinite creative possibilities in your guitar playing !!!!! If you get somebody else to do your homework you are only cheating yourself.

Only kidding - post some questions and we'll see what we can do ...

Basic Algebra and Linear are two totally different things.

Well that's a bummer, I was getting pretty curious...

What does it have to do with? Matrices, Transformations, Inverses, Determinants, Orthogonality?

Re: Can anyone do Linear Algebra???

Okay guys here she is....

1. Let a = 8a − 4b + 8c and b = 6a − 8c. Find the following:

(a) a unit vector in the direction of a.

(b) a vector of length 18 in the direction of a.

(c) the angle between a and b.

(d) a unit vector perpendicular to both a and b.

It, quite literally, means nothing to me!!

Big Job

Here we go!

Re: Can anyone do Linear Algebra???

This is pretty simple vector algebra, basically. Since it is a little confusing to call the vectors "a" and "b" with components "a, b, and c", I'll denote the vectors as 'A' and 'B' where

A = 8a - 4b + 8c

and

B = 6a - 8c

Without giving away too much:

a) A unit vector can be made out of any vector divided by length. So find the length of vector A!

b) This is just the unit vector of A multiplied by 18.

c) Think cross product. Hint: |A| |B| sin Theta, where |A| and |B| are length.

d) Matrix cross product. A x B = C, where C is always orthogonal to both A and B

Re: Can anyone do Linear Algebra???

The [b] in step c should be capitalized; I typed it in capitalized, but it is showing lower-case. Either way, [b] represents the vector.

*Edit: Nevermind, it's fixed.
