This is pretty simple vector algebra, basically. Since it is a little confusing to call the vectors "a" and "b" with components "a, b, and c", I'll denote the vectors as 'A' and 'B' where
A = 8a - 4b + 8c
and
B = 6a - 8c
Without giving away too much:
a) A unit vector can be made out of any vector divided by length. So find the length of vector A!
b) This is just the unit vector of A multiplied by 18.
c) Think cross product. Hint: |A| |B| sin Theta, where |A| and |B| are length.
d) Matrix cross product. A x B = C, where C is always orthogonal to both A and B
