Car Guy Thread -->

Hopefully not a repost, not recently anyway in the time that I've been a member here. I thought I'd start a thread about our love of cars. This is my main hobby/obsession.

To start things off here's my baby:

1993 Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo - Black on black, leather, 5spd, 2-seater, t-tops. Modified. Makes between 350-370rwhp depending on the tune I run. (that's ~430+ bhp). I do my own maintenance and modifications, and also race and show it.
Here's a couple pics (during some races):

Future engine build and turbo ugprade are in the long term plans...

Absolutely!!

I thought about titling it "Car Guys/Gals", but then I remembered a quote from Barry Meguiar on the show Car Crazy where he said "Even 'Car Girls' are "Car Guys"!".

LOL You go on Meguiar's forums? My dream, would to get an old muscle car and restore it myself, or better yet, have Chip Foose Overhaul it for me! Dayum! that would be the best! I don't have money to lavish on a really nice sports car or to mod it out, so I just am big into detailing instead! I'd love to have like a 69 Camaro or Mustang GT or Shelby or a Nissan Skyline or a 350Z or a Toyota Supra, that would be cool! I almost got a Supra once. my boyfriend at the time owned a shop and there was someone who had blown the transmission on a white Supra and he didn't have the money to fix it so he pretty much just abandoned it there. My boyfriend told me he would fix it and give me the car and I would just have to make the rest of the payments on it and pay the insurance but I coudn't afford it! Man, I wish I could have though! That was a sweet car.

Yes I do. I love detailing too. However I'm not on the Meg's forum much anymore. I used to be a regular on Mike Phillip's "Showcargarage" forum, which was the precursor to meguiars.com. And then was an initial member when the new commercial forum started up. But then it got too big too fast, IMO. And I got a little sick of the "Meguiars products are the best for everything!" attitude there. I use SOME Meguiar's products, but not all. There are a tonne of good detailing brands out there and they all have some high-points in their respective product lines.

I miss the old forum (ShowCarGarage) though. It was a much smaller community environment, kinda like Jemsite. Imagine if Jemsite suddenly exploded to 1000x the membership it has now and became an official Ibanez endorsed site...

Nowadays, if I need that detailing fix, I'd much rather spend time at autopia.org.

Yeah I hear ya. The only thing from Meguiar's I still use regularly is the Quick Interior detailer. I like that stuff, but there are just so many other choices out there! I love Menzerna. Their polishes rock and they don't dust and stain the trim the way Meggy's does. But I still use Meg's #9 for door jambs and junk when I'm detailing a beater and I have to polish by hand.

Some Poorboy's EX-P would look smoking on that white! It would turn it into a mustang shaped glass of milk! hehe

My car at the workplace.

I prefer Meguiar's #26, and Autofom paint sealant.

Re: Car Guy Thread -->

EX-P and #26 are both favorites in my arsenal as well.

EX-P, combined with Clearkote's Vanilla Moose (glaze underneath), on my black Z gives it that "salad oil" look.. Very wet.

I've used #26 on my daily driver in the winter months and it seems to hold up really well... beads for at least ~3 months. It just destroys NXT for durability.

Oh my gosh! You have to try the Red moose glaze next time, that stuff is made for black! I love Clearkote! They've got alot of good stuff. I use quickshine all the time! For black, I love either Red moose glaze topped with Souveran paste wax or XMT glaze with Souveran on top. Pure yumminess! mmmm mmmmm good!

It's so nice to see that not everyone who likes imports finds it neccessary to add a bunch of goofy body kits and wings with outrageous colors and decals and a bunch of other hokey novelties.
Classic Black and Clean.
Love the Z, Inzane.

Re: Car Guy Thread -->

I'm amazed that some people just wash and wax their car, and don't bother to use a paint sealant.

Does anyone here have any experience with Klasse?
