chewing gum + clothes

ok so i was at a formal last night, and the usual happened: it gets hot, jackets come off, drinks get drunk, jackets get put in corner, jackets usually get a bit dusty n stuff, i would expect that

now picture the scene. knackered after lots of dancing and rather drunk, i go to the corner i put my jacket on (on a seat out of the way) to find that some genius has decided to put their chewing gum ina wrapper then put it on my jacket/tie heap and sit on it, pressing it firmly into everything

i hate chewing gum anyway and never use the horrible stuff
anyone know how to get it out of something or is my jacket just a big bit of waste fabric now?

ps GRRRRR!!!

I used baby oil when the same sort of situation happened when my daughter screwed up a sweatshirt of mine. I think it's best to make sure it hardens a little first. Then scrape off what you can and then go to work with the baby oil. After all that, since I assume it's a formal jacket, I would take it to the dry cleaners.

Hopefully the genius was a very hot chick (that tends to make the gum easier to touch)

I've heard hair-spray works well, but I've never tried it myself...

good luck

Re: chewing gum + clothes

It's chewing gum and hair you gotta watch out for. Damn, when I had long hair I somehow got it full of gum. Probably fell asleep on someone's floor during a party, but jeez, I had to cut a lot of my hair out.

BUT... I had a worse time when I was about 5. One time when my dad went away on holiday (without us kids, same old s***, cheers dad), and brought me a huge multi-coloured lollipop back (like a swirl paint job). I was very happy about that. It lasted hours and I took it to bed to finish eating it. Woke up with the damn thing stuck upside down on my head! I swear, I have NEVER been so upset in my whole life. I came downstairs to find my mother, but she was at work. The postman went past the window and burst out laughing, full on hysterical laughter too, and this made me cry even more. See, I didn't think it would ever come off.

Eventually my mom came home and washed my hair, but I tell you, that's the end of the world right there when you're only 5.

Re: chewing gum + clothes

I hear freezing it makes the gum come off, put it in the freezer and it's supposed to break off.
