Contact lenses and airplanes

Random question:
When flying on a plane, has anyone here checked their contact lenses with their baggage instead of their carry-on? Is it okay to do? I recently checked my lenses with my luggage on a recent flight. They seem okay, but thought I'd ask.

The Acuvu website says
"When traveling by air, try to keep your lenses, case, and solution in your carry-on luggage. DONT pack your lenses in checked baggage unless you want to risk your lenses landing in Cincinnati while you fly to Honolulu!"

That makes me think it's okay. If the worst thing that can happen is the luggage gets lost, it's not a big deal.

It is fine, Acuvu was just saying how checked baggage gets lost all the time, and it would suck to be blind on your trip
which reminds me, they told me once that my Ibanez in its case could be carry on?!?!?! crazy

Re: Contact lenses and airplanes

They will open it your contact case up and look inside. I've done this before without my lenses being in there. When I opened my luggage both caps were unscrewed and the solution was emptied out into my luggage. If my contacts had been in there they would've been ruined.

I hate the TSA. If only they treated your luggage like it was theres. They've dumped out my entire bag before, which was all neatly folded and stuffed in there. They rumble thru it all and then push it to me to put everything back in there. I would absolutely love to do that to them.

Did I mention I hate the TSA?

I don't bother folding my clothes or organizing my stuff anymore.

Careful, they're listening.

Seriously, you heard that our telecommunications companies just let the feds listen to (or read) all our communications so they can look for terrorists, right?

That's because when you impact, your upper body will be thrown forward so you're better off already being in that position. But you can kiss your ass goodbye while you're at it...
