Decent trade? My RG570 for an Epiphone Slash "Appetite" Les paul?

Hi guys,

Was just hoping to run this past you to see what you thought. I have an old RG570 in vital silver, purple sharkfins- great condition modded with dimarzios and duncans.
The snag is I have a jem 7bsb, rgt 3120 and a RGT 42fm so im very ibanezed out.

He has a epiphone slash les paul which gets good reviews so I was wondering if it is a decent trade?

As both guitars are no longer made, its hard for us to work out if it is a good deal on both ends.

What baffles me is that the current RG2570Z goes for £800 - 900 yet the RG 570s are going very cheaply on ebay and are essentially the same guitar. In fact some might say the bridge being a lo pro edge on the 570 is better? Maybe people just arent looking for the model, and they are getting sold on at crazy prices. Or maybe people dont want them for a reason I dont know about

Appreciate any input you might have Cheers guys!

I'd keep the RG570, especially considering you've already sorted out what many consider to be the weak link; the pickups.

The issue is that like you said, the RG2570 is the "current" version of what you have, so look at the "replacement" value of your guitar, rather than the bargains that can be had on ebay. (I keep picking up the old RG500 here and there on ebay at the moment, whenever I see one I like the look of - buyers market at the moment).

Of course if you're a huge Slash fan then a trade becomes more interesting, but it's not a deal I'd make.

From a strictly resale value point of view the Slash Epi is worth more than the RG570 even with the pup upgrades which usually don't count for very much anyway. If you're Ibanezed out and the Epi is in the same condition as the RG I'd do that deal in a second.

Comes down to personal taste. I would do the deal IF you are ibanez'd out AND it's a good resale value. If it's just to get a les paul, I would forget it, as I hate les pauls. Very hard for me to play anything but Ibanez after switching years ago.

An Ibanez Rg570 is a great guitar and an Ephiphone Signature doesn´t have the quality that the RG has. It is not about the money IMO it about how it feels when you play a guitar an how it is made. I´ve played Ephiphones and Gibsons and there is a huge difference between them, and there is algo a big difference between your Ibanez and the Slash Signature model. But i live in Buenos Aires, one of the few places in the world where a used Ibanez Rg 570 costs USD 1000 or even more...
