Re: Does anyone really care?

There are far more important things we can do to help the environment rather than counting our Google searches...

Re: Does anyone really care?

What a load!

I tell you, I'm studying to be an engineer so I consider myself to be a bit of a junior scientist. (LOL!) Seriously, though, I have many questions on the so-called human effect on global warming.
1. There were a few events in our planet's history called "ice ages". The Earth has undergone global warming significantly since then without human's around.
2. Many of these ice ages were triggered by volcanic activity. Volcanoes spew out TONS of greenhouse gasses; chief of which include carbon monoxide and methane. Unlike that silly movie "Volcano", Tommy Lee Jones and all of LA would have been killed quickly simply by breathing in proximity to the lava flow. But I digress.... Not that the Beijing skyline is any cause for worry. (cough, cough!)
3. LASTLY, we are NOT killing the planet. We are simply making it uninhabitable for human life. I suspect the Earth and its biosphere will go on thriving LONG after humans are extinct!
Cheers!

Re: Does anyone really care?

So it's all cool if I plant a tree every time I Google something?

Rock on!

Re: Does anyone really care?

Am I the only person that cares a little? I'm not going to cut back googling but it's still a problem, AS IF EARTH DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH!? Oh well...

Re: Does anyone really care?

lol @ this thread

if that report about google thingy up there is genuine... perhaps they should take another aspect into consideration; there is a lot of S**T going on in the world, and the only way to resolve many of the world's problems is by awareness. Awareness comes from communication of information, and google, and the like, does a hole ton load of that, so in a way, it's a neutral carbon footprint. So "f**k 'em and Google"

Re: Does anyone really care?

ok so we can choose from... a) people google and hopefully continue to actually learn something while the environment suffers..
or b) stop googling, they get dumber and the environment continues to flourish?

hmmm.. Im all out of lifelines.. can i call a friend? or will using my cell phone to do so somehow negatively affect the environment as well?

ahh what to do what to do...

oh wait.. ill search google to see if I can find an answer!

What I say. With all that's going on in the world today, google searching is the last thing that we should worry about.

Re: Does anyone really care?

Well, for anyone who does care, there's blackle.com, which supposedly saves energy. I'm not really that convinced though, not many people are using CRT moniters these days.
