e-surance?

So esurance.com offered me a fantastic rate on my car insurance (I just turned 25, so everyone is offering me great rates now). Everything they promise seems good... but I've never gone with an insurance company before that is relatively unknown. Anyone here have a policy with esurance? Any good or bad stories to tell?

Re: e-surance?

After reading an article that told how much e-surance spent on their TV commercial campaign (don't remember the exact figures, but it was quite a bit), I would imagine that the expense is passed on to their consumer. You may be able to do better elsewhere.

Of course, I probably don't know what I'm talking about, as I live in the magical land of Massachusetts where car insurance rates are a state-sanctioned fleecing and there is no rate competition.

Re: e-surance?

Somewhere along the way they realized Eagle Man should lay eggs so they switched it to Eagle Woman. Remember the one where the eagle shot two big eggs with the rates on them at the Mexican chick and she held them up by her mommy bags and said "You can't beat these"

Re: e-surance?

i've wondered about them as well. Their commercials convey something, not sure what but I don't think of them that highly, I know that does help you much.

Re: e-surance?

Check their overall rating, insurance companies are rated just like a restaraunt.
See what types of claims they pay on and what they dispute. Some companies are noutorius for not paying out on claims. That said, E-surance may have a lot of money for advertising because they don't pay out. *only making a point here not verified*

*Not to mention I hate those damn commercials*

Check around, play the quote game, your own insurance company might cut you a better deal if you've been claim free and can talk to them about that.
Make a list for them.
Claim Free, Non smoker, 25+, anti theft system on car, etc...

Ollie is right about cheap not always being better. I've been lucky with the 3 different companies I've had over the years, but ymmv.

Figured I'd get a quote and they are quoting me about 50% of what my current rates are, so I shopped around, and theya re lower than everyone. Makes me wonder why they can offer that much lower a rate than the other major compaines?
