In a fairly general sense, where are you located?

I am in Northern California which includes San Jose, Gilroy, San Francisco (all with GCs and Ibanezes on wall) and the like but for this simple poll, the USA.

I may make a more specific one for USA and others like maybe Mattias can make one for Japan and others can break up common Jemsite members' nations like UK, Germany, Canada, Australia, etc.

There was a very early thread trying to get people to list locations in handle, but I wanted to get a visual at least from the high production posters.

Where are you typing from/currently live?

So formal.

South Jersey.

Remember the campaign to secede from the North in the 80's??

[just outside Philly. Jim and I are neighbors that have never met. It's a crying shame, he's a cool dude! Maybe he doesn't like me!]

Colorado front range a few miles north of Denver, in a town that Jack Kerouac mentions in "On the Road"

Tokyo, Japan. At least that is what the IP address thingy says. Just a minute, I will look outside...

Yep, there are a lot of Japanese people walking by, overly-manicured trees and spotless streets.
Tokyo, Japan must be right.

Huntington WV.
Hillbilly Country.
Sadly, this neighborhood is going downhill and fast.
There was a shooting 5 blocks away not long ago.
Been looking to move for a while now, going to happen soon.
I've been trying to talk Jeff into seeing if he can transfer to the Jersey shore. His company has a warehouse there.
Never happen though, we both grew up here...

Is it true that South Jersey was full of 'Southern Sympathizers' during the Civil War? I've heard that there are people living in the Pine Barrens that think the Civil War is still going on...... but I know better than to believe that......just like the 'myths' of the inbred 'Mountain Men' of West Virginia trapping people and eating them like in 'Wrong Turn'.

Hello?

That's the 1980's, not the 1880's!

Although it's always a possibility. MD and DE were slave states, as was NJ till 1804! I'm sure there are a few southern sympathizer rednecks down Woodstown way, where the rodeo is. I swear I'm in Kansas when I'm anywhere near Woodstown.

Purely politics, North Jersey is where all he big money is, and they never learned to share.

Deliverance wasn't a true story??

Re: In a fairly general sense, where are you located?

I do know what you were talking about, I have family that live in Jersey.
I've heard from dubious sources that during the Civil War the southern part of New Jersey had a large number of Confederate sympathizers, and that many actually joined the Confederate Army.
I don't know if it's true, I've never found it in any history books. I just thought someone from Jersey may know something about the history that isn't exactly 'common knowledge'. That wasn't an 'old' joke nor was I confused by what you meant.
And no, Deliverance wasn't a true story, to the best of my knowledge.
Although; I do get a little nervous driving alone through deep back-woods and on dirt roads in 'hollers' (hollows, you Eastern Folk would call it a 'valley').
I have seen some wild looking folk in this state.
But I'd imagine I'd feel the same driving through Trenton, or Newark, or Camden.
Is Camden still in the Top 10 most dangerous cities list?
I'm pretty sure Detroit dethroned Camden as number 1.
Oh, and about us 'hillbillies'... you do know the 'tooth brush' was invented by a hillbilly, right?
Otherwise it would have been called a 'teeth brush'. <rim-shot>

I'd be more scared walking in a holler than the streets of Camden

Nah, they had to get it down to #3 so everybody would stop talking about it.

I'm pretty sure Deliverance was a true story.

Well, I guess it would depend on the holler. There's one where the cabin is, and it's dark, the only light up there at night is the moon, the stars, or the lights from your car, but with a flashlight I'd have no qualms about walking it. Well, a gun too. Lots of wildlife up there.
Of course, that'll never happen. I don't like hiking. Last time it was cold, and rainy and I did nothing but complain the whole time. I'm betting Jeff will never ask me to go hiking again.
And I never got all the way through Deliverance. There were a few scenes I had to cover my eyes and I ended up turning it off.
I'm wimpy like that. Someone dragged me to one of the 'Saw' movies (I don't remember the number) and I spent the entire time with my face buried in his chest....wait....I think that may have been his plan!

Merry old England for me. Live in a small town 1500 yrs old and not much has changed in that time. Don't wanna rush things according to folks in these parts.

It's all tea and scones with the Queen round here - she's a fan of the Jem incidentally, favouring the DNA. Can't stand rosewood boards however and reveals an industrial turn of phrase when discussing them.

I don't think that change is an improvement.
