Favorite live concert movie?

My favorite is Van Halen's "Live without a Net" from 1986. Filmed a couple months before I was born lol. Great great concert!!!!

Rush's live in Rio dvd is pretty damn good too. That was the first concert I went to actually (not in rio, but that tour).

Satch's Live in SF is probably my favorite instrumental... maybe tied with Live at the Astoria by steve vai?

Im trying to "expand my horizons" so enlighten me!

Hell yes! I was barely in my teens and couldn't go to concerts but they used to play this on HBO or Cinemax, I think. It was about the same time I started playing guitar. I saw this on tv and said "#$%& yeah!!!! That's what I want to do!!!"

Mr. Big Live in San Francisco got a lot of play on my TV too.
I like a lot of the Zappa vids but most of that was before my time.

Red face Re: Favorite live concert movie?

Alice Cooper-Welcome To My Nightmare 1975 (Amazing technical stage show for the time. The video to real life graphics are very cool)

Kiss Animalize Live Uncensored 1985 (exceptionally well done aside from Paul's guitar solo)

Europe-Final Countdown Tour 1986 (Just kick @ss, even the crappy bass solo was awesome!)

Ted Nugent's Whiplash Bash 1987 (terrible Ted being himself)

A guy I know is shown at the very beginning in the crowd sequences staring right into the camera, and he had never seen Van Halen. When we showed him the tape of the concert and he saw himself, he remembered a film crew walking around filming the audience the previous December during Rush's "Power Windows" tour. Same location (New Haven Coliseum in Ct) for both shows. So, the next time you see that film, right at the beginning where the crowd is all psyched in anticipation, it ain't all for VH Might not even be VH's crowd all the time during the show either.

Yeah never believe in everything you see on tv(or tape) lol.

We had the same thing with brazilian bands, the bad was playing in a place completely different than that one the audience was .

Re: Favorite live concert movie?

There are so many but...

Dio and Bruce Dickinson in the same concert ( Skol Fest Rock,Brazil 1997) was AWESOME.

All Dream Theater stuff.

Europe - Live from the dark.

Whitesnake - In the still of the night (with Reb Beach and Doug Aldrich).

Danger Danger ( Andy Timmons) - I thinks it's called live in Japan.

All Journey stuff.

Pink Floyd - Pulse

LTE - Live in L.A.
