Finally the answer we've been waiting for

The Egg came first, from Slashdot......

"It seems scientists and philosophers now agree which came first. The Egg. From the CNN article: 'Put simply, the reason is down to the fact that genetic material does not change during an animal's life. Therefore the first bird that evolved into what we would call a chicken, probably in prehistoric times, must have first existed as an embryo inside an egg. Professor John Brookfield, a specialist in evolutionary genetics at the University of Nottingham, told the UK Press Association the pecking order was clear.'

Re: Finally the answer we've been waiting for

Surprising that this is news. It's pretty obvious, really.

a) dinosaurs laid eggs (we know because we have fossilized dino eggs.)

b) Chickens came only after the dinos were gone. (again from fossils.

c) Eggs preceded Chickens.

Besides, eggs are for breakfast, and chicken is for lunch or supper and everybody knows breakfast comes before both lunch AND supper. (Dinner is the terminology of heretics.)

Re: Finally the answer we've been waiting for

Yeah but.........if the dinosaur laid the eggs, where did the dinosaur come from?? An did the dinosaur have eggs for breakfast and chicken for dinner or.....what if the chicken wanted eggs for breakfast would it eat its own or..............this just confuses things even more, just when i was comfortable with it!!!

I've been saying that for years.

The egg the first chicken was in came from a bird that was very chicken like, but not a chicken in a true sense at all.

Re: Finally the answer we've been waiting for

I'm a firm believer that if a tree falls in the woods and no one is around, it does not make a sound.

For sound to exist, you need three things:

1. A source

2. A medium for which it to pass through

3. A reciever

If no one is around, you don't have #3, so, no sound.

Bullsh*t,the sound is there.Otherwise that means your ears make things up depending on what they see.So if you are on your own and you speak it doesn't make a sound coz no-one else hears it.And how would the tree know you were there to make a sound for you. It's not magic, ears hear what is already there.Plug your guitar into your amp, crank it up but put earplugs in.Does it still make a sound?

After this statement, I'm not so sure I would take your professional opinion

No, what I'm getting at is that technically, sound needs a source, a medium, and a reciever. Of course it makes a sound, we all know that, but scientific conjecture claims that it would not fit the criteria for making a sound. If we didn't have ears, we would recognize this sound as some type of physical vibration, but we would never actually hear the noise, so it wouldn't necessarily exist in that form to us.

It's kind of like, what if trees were emitting some kind of something right now, but it would require a sense that we don't have to pick it up. Well, it may very well exist, but we don't have the means to recieve it, so to us we are completely oblivious.

An egg that came from another bird that came from another bird until you go so far back that the egg came from a lizard.
