Find me an awesome webhosting deal

Last year I signed up with dreamhost when they had their $9.95/year hosting deal. This year they don't have any kind of plan for current members to re-up.

The only way to get a good deal with my current host is to pay a full year at a time, which I really don't want to do... at least not when I know there are better deals out there.

I'm not looking for much... I'd like 24 hour email support, 2+GB storage and 75-100+GB/month bandwidth (that is way more than I need, but it'd be nice).

Anyone who knows of killer deals with places that have a good track record, let me know. If not, I'll stick with what I've got, but I figure I may as well shop around.

If you can find it for under $10/month, sure.

I don't think my demands are unrealistic. They are actually pretty common these days. The bandwidth, however, can be less than half what I listed.

Re: Find me an awesome webhosting deal

After I spent a week or so researching web hosts about 4 months ago, I decided to go with Lunar Pages, www.lunarpages.com. So far, I have had good luck with them. I recommended them to a friend of mine that does some web site design work and I believe he is now hosting 2-3 sites with them as well.

Re: Find me an awesome webhosting deal

I think I get all that with Yahoo, to tell you the truth. I pay like 10 bucks a month, have lots of email addresses, 200 GIG of throughput a month, 5 gig of space (or something). It's at smallbusiness.yahoo.com, I only really have it to have it.

Re: Find me an awesome webhosting deal

What just doesn't sound right about 200 GIG/ month in bandwidth?! That's what the site says, but is it really? Or is it governed as soon as you reach a certain amount?

Re: Find me an awesome webhosting deal

Well, lots of people *said* they downloaded the Ibanez 7th Heaven files from my space there, and those totalled 700MEG+. The flow never stopped and I was never charged more or anything. I guess it's possible they continue letting you download/upload/whatever, but just increment you up the pay scale if you go over. I can't see them shutting off your access if they can simply charge you more

Re: Find me an awesome webhosting deal

Not shutting you down, governing is where they limit the speed of the data transfer, sometimes to a crawl.

Re: Find me an awesome webhosting deal

It's possible, but if you don't have a business 200GIG a month is an awful lot. Do you think they start to govern it at 50 or 100 GIG? I could ask.

Re: Find me an awesome webhosting deal

I'm on my largest available package and that's 50GIG.

That's kinda the point, 200GIG at $10/month is insane. Bandwidth is not that cheap, at some point they will have to limit it.

Re: Find me an awesome webhosting deal

I'm on 1and1.com and have had great luck and no drop outs.
1 and 1
I'm paying around 29.00 every 6 months for 3 domains including hosting etc.
Let me know if you want it, they have referral bonuses as well we'll each get some kind of incentives.

But it's Yahoo, after all. I would have to guess that very few companies could possibly touch their bandwidth.

Re: Find me an awesome webhosting deal

AFAIK Yahoo doesn't have a monopoly, they get charged for bandwidth just like everybody else. Maybe cheaper because of volume but cheaper sure isn't free.
