Going to the movies

Do movies ever make you think about certain things? Or are they forgotten as soon as you leave the theatre? Are they always just entertainment? Or do some of them challenge your thoughts? There's a lot of talk about this question amongst a lot of filmmakers and movie lovers. I'm curious to see what all of you will vote for.

Re: Going to the movies

Entertaining as well as challenging. That's cool. One could say that also about Terry Gilliam's work. I'm thinking about '12 Monkeys' for instance. In the scene where Brad Pitt's character is first seen, in the mental hospital, he's really funny but at the same time he's saying some pretty profound stuff.

Re: Going to the movies

I like movies for entertainment. Whether it's moronic like South Park, or deadly serious like Hotel Rwanda, it's still entertainment.
