Holy Grail guitar

Just wondering how many of you guys found your "holy grail" guitar. The one you CANT put down. The one that feels "right". I've been playin for a while now, and I still have yet to find "the one". I've always been able to find something "wrong" with every guitar. Either in sound, looks, or functionality.

maybe that RG550 I bought will do something for me lol.

Re: Holy Grail guitar

It changes over time. But as far as off the peg guitars go it will always be a 777sk

I have built and owned a lot of guitars. I prefer playing guitars I have built, as I can't find exactly what I want off the peg. The problem is that the "holy grail" may not work out exactly as you expected, so something else becomes the new dream. Because I have built my dream guitar several times I usually lust over something hanging on my wall.

Based on my experiments the next holy grail is as follows:

Les paul (so carve top, set neck etc)
25.5 inch scale
Abalone block inlays
Ebony board
Flame Maple neck
Quilt maple top with matching headstock
Dyed peppermint green or light blue. No burst and oil finish (no lacquer whatsoever on anything)
Padauk back, possibly chambered as it is fookin' heavy
Tunomatic bridge, and sperzel locking tuners
Bare Knuckle Rebel Yell. Pink and cream zebra.

Re: Holy Grail guitar

Holy grail guitar? Well, I've tried my way around jems, RGs, Les Pauls, SGs, S-series, vintage as well as brand new. Not owned them though, except the S-series. But well, the one neck and sound I just can't forget about, and I keep drooling over is a JS1000 2009 BTB. One day, I hope to own one, and perhaps create my own sound with some pickups I get designed for this purpose. Just maybe one day. But as for now, my S will undoubtfully do fine.

+1 I have an old 550 with the back of the neck unfinished. I always fits like a glove, never go's out of tune. Definately a great neck profile, orginal Edge trems r my fav. My 2cents

Re: Holy Grail guitar

Being that I am a lefty, my holy grail is a Ibanez 1570 L. When i first picked the guitar up, the neck was immediately comfortable , and I had a perfect since of where every note was.

Re: Holy Grail guitar

I have been giving this a lot of thought lately, I would have to say that it is my 90 540R-LTD Jewel Blue with a Paf Joe and Mo' Joe and superswitch installed. I always come back to it, it is comfortable, plays amazing and it what I compare everything else I get to.
