Ibanez vs Jackson players

I spoke to a dealer in London yesterday that said Jackson were coming back into vogue after 10 years in the wildnerness, as a result of their dealers being significantly expanded to all fender dealers. And also due to Ibanez not doing anything significent in 18 months.

But if I go over to the jackson forums at jcfonline.com I question why are the people on this forum so nice in comparison. It seems like there's a lot of aggro over there. Not to mention being lied to by a Jackson dealer, in my own experience, and the 6-12 month wait on anything.

It's enough to make me forget abou these other brands and stick with Ibanez for the forseeable future. In the past Ibanez was the dark side when they were associated with nu metal, but today I just see them as banging out exceptional guitars for very little money by comparison to ESP and Jackson. But damn, IMO, Ibanez need to bring out some new finishes and get away from this drab stuff. And some new options such as maple and ebony fretboards, reverse headstocks, different pickups.

I've noticed that ibanez players are the regular people that dress like normal people (with band ****rs) who just happen to be good shredders while jackson users tend to go all out goth. Just judging from what i've seen at my school's music program.

I don't mind Jacksons at all ( and dare I say it, some of the early-mid 90's gunslinger/assassins ), It's all they need is the company sorting out. You don't get much bang for the buck at the moment.

Well I wouldn't say no to a Jackson, so that I can have something different. At the moment, Jackson are doing the finishes that us Ibanez lovers would like.

Re: Ibanez vs Jackson players

I'm sure I've seen an older snakeskin Ibby, didn't like it as much as the Jackson finish though.

Re: Ibanez vs Jackson players

What Jackson would compare to an Ibanez RG5xx or RG7xx then Gurj?

Re: Ibanez vs Jackson players

Probably a DK1 as it's a bolt-on, but the DK1 is pretty pricey (around the price of a jem), so maybe a DK2 mate. I'm not sure how good the DK2's are though as I've never played one.

Re: Ibanez vs Jackson players

I play both. I like the older Jacksons. Ive got a few soloists, fusions and the new DK with the maple board and black sharkstooth inlays, its a great guitar. Depending on what youre looking for and your price range. If you want a great Jackson for a minimal price check into a Charvel mod 4 or model 6. Its a great guitar for about the same price as an RG 550 these days.

Peace
