Is Internet Explorer for dummies?

http://www.torontosun.com/2011/08/01...cized-in-study

"Titled Intelligence Quotient and Browser Usage, the study by Vancouver-based AptiQuant says IE 6 users have a lower IQ than users of other web browsers."

Just thought it was kind of funny. (I use IE most of the time btw)

I just switched to Opera, now my IQ jumped up above 120.

I already feel smarter.

Agreed.

http://www.aptiquant.com/news/is-int...-exactly-that/

it has one blurb about the IQ's of old IE users, then goes on to say the main browsers have "higher then average IQs"

then the rest of the paragraphs talk about how IE is a pain for web developers

ala :

" Internet Explorer has traditionally been considered a pain in the back for web developers. Any IT company involved in web development will acknowledge the fact that millions of man hours are wasted each year to make otherwise perfectly functional websites work in Internet Explorer, because of its lack of compatibility with web standards. The continuous use of older versions of IE by millions of people around the world has often haunted web developers. This trend not only makes their job tougher, but has also pulled back innovation by at least a decade. But with the results of this study, IT companies worldwide will start to take a new look on the time and money they spend on supporting older browsers."

Pretty funny but with IE shipping (worldwide except in parts of Europe) as the default web browser of 95% of PCs sold it's no surprise. Said another way it takes energy, effort and knowledge to consider an alternate browser.

I'm still using Firefox out of habit but IE9 is really, really impressive in regard to graphic acceleration, html5 and security ..glen

This is one of the dumbest things I've heard! A browser is a browser, just browse! The only one I will not use is Chrome...too slow and many issues

Re: Is Internet Explorer for dummies?

Well I've felt that you have to be kind of dumb to still use IE for several years now. I used Firefox for a while but the most recent version (3.0 I think?) was totally screwed up and would cause my computer to lock periodically. Switched over to Chrome and I feel kind of stupid for having held on to FF for so long.

Seriously, try downloading Chrome and be amazed at how much faster it runs than IE.
