James Bond?

I'm 21 so I've seen quite a few James Bond movies. Are they popular in Britain? I know they are in the US, and am watching skyfall and I never stopped to think it probably came from Britain, and that other movies like Harry potter etc aren't American made movies.

Re: James Bond?

Assuming Americans in general like American made films, and considering James bond has more movies in its series then anything ever made... One can assume its also popular in the UK as is Harry potter..

Re: James Bond?

The James Bond books were written by a British author, and funnily enough the films are made by British people.

Re: James Bond?

Kind of off topic but do you know what is currently one of the most successful movie franchises worldwide?

The Fast and The Furious.

Re: James Bond?

The Bond movies were born out of Pinewood studios here in the UK, friend of mine used to do the lighting effects for some of them. Filmed all over the world of course.

VERY popular films here since their inception none more so than last summer with the Olympics on too... Everything went a bit British crazy.

Roger Moore is also my favorite, but A View To A Kill is probably my favorite since it has Christopher Walken as the bad guy. Timothy Dalton is a close second only because I liked him in Flash Gordon.

Red face Re: James Bond?

I can't believe what I'm hearing...

Sean Connery is the Bond that all other Bond actors wanted to be like...

I was born in 1969 so the Bond of my youth was Roger Moore, and while he holds a special place in my heart, he can't touch Connery. Pierce Brosnan was also very good at bridging the gap between Sean and Roger, but again he doesn't come close to Seans mastery of brute strength and cool along with the dry wit that made Bond so special.

Timothy Dalton was just lost as Bond, George Lazenby was even more lost as the one off Bond from On Her Majesty's Secret Service. However with the re-imagining of the franchise with Daniel Craig, Bond has taken a much needed turn into the new millennium...

Craig offers a tough emotionally broken edged Bond, which is a delightful turn on the fare we have been given prior to this. Balanced by the suspenseful writing and his ease on camera and he is on his way to being the next best Bond!

However I don't want to nitpick...

I can't believe what I'm hearing too!
ALL Bond movies are utter crap.
Dumb villains, dumb stories, crap effects, crap dialogues, everything is sooooooo predictable and boring, we all know how a Bond movie will end.
You don't even have to think to understand them, it's like a book with only pics, mute tv and still you'll understand the whole story.
Terrible.
I watched them all and my parents are big fans.
The only thing I can like from all movies is some songs are cool.
