Re: juice or satchel boogie

The rare time I find myself preferring a Satriani song in one of these.

Couldn't even really say why, but Juice feels like it doesn't go anywhere throughout the duration.

Re: juice or satchel boogie

I'm a die-hard Satch fan... but I gotta give this one to Steve. I love Satch Boogie, but it totally kills the groove when he does that tap-fest for too long. Juice just freakin rocks... and keeps rockin... and rockin... and the icing on the cake is the ending... "Shut up! We know you can play...." I also dig the melodic Van Halen-esque lead laced through the song.

Same here, both have to share the gold medal.

Re: juice or satchel boogie

I think it's more of a question of which is harder to play as both are awesome songs- Juice is more difficult to play.

Re: juice or satch boogie

"Juice" is definitely more difficult to play from a technical standpoint. But as far as a favorite, I have to go with "Satch Boogie," given is iconic status.

I can't say that more difficulty = better at all.

Re: juice or satch boogie

More difficult just equals harder to play, that's all.

Re: juice or satch boogie

I just saw a video about Satch Boogie where Satriani explains his influence for the song. Apparently he had just been in an accident of some sort and was very medicated and was thinking about big bands like in the 40's and thats where he got the idea for the groove. Pretty interesting if nothing else.
Oh yeah and play satch boogie. I'm biased being a hardcore Satriani fanboy (I'd die if i met him in person). Also it was the first satch song I learned how to play all the way through (midnight doesn't count)
