Just been to the British Grand Prix!

Just wondered if anyone else went?
It was my first GP, despite being an F1 fan for 20 years. I have to say to any fans who've never been to one, you just have to go. The speed that they go at, particularly cornering speeds this year is just unbelievable. We stood just before Becketts corner, and to see/hear an F1 car going past you about 10 yards away, going around a corner at 180mph in top gear is just amazing. It gives you a whole new appreciation for the skill of every driver out there, and I don't know how any of them ever survive when they crash at that speed.
We camped about 3/4 mile from the circuit and walked in each day, and went to all three days - just a huge experience.
But I think the best part of the weekend was seeing Lewis Hamilton win the GP2 races - the second race I was in the middle of THE standing ovation he got at Copse corner - everyone was blown away - a true champion in the making!

I've been to one before in Sepang, Kuala Lumpur, I was sitting in the grand stand, well it's fun to watch the speed of the car but the crap is you can only watch them vroom past you and then after that you have to look up and watch them in the television....

Re: Just been to the British Grand Prix!

I tried to get to Monaco once on the race day, and failed. I watched a classic car race around the town my mother-in-law lives in. Great day.

I have talking about going to a GP for years. I have never had the money a the right time to be honest.

Glad you enjoyed, although it's unfortunate that none of our British boys could get to the podium!
