Re: Microsoft Surface

I have to say, I don't really want a touchscreen on my coffee table, i'd probably just spill coffee on it...

Not to mention putting your feet up too quickly after a long day, and smashing your brand new 42" display..

If they could have poker games that run off your credit card playing under your drinks I would be broke fast.

Re: Microsoft Surface

I remember the australian MS guys made a surfboard with a PC in it and wireless internet etc. I think they're just showing off now, I'm more interested in intel releasing the new 45nm CPUs (because that is actually new, and functional technology).

Re: Microsoft Surface

I believe Etch-a-Sketch is a interactive table that combines the physical and virtual worlds. I heard Bill Gates beat the creater into a pulp to get him to sell this radical new technology.

Online Poker in the US becomes illegal either June 1st or July 1st, but the end is very close. No more online gambling for the US.

Is that right? I'm not a gambler, but I just find it interesting. What made them decide to stop do you know?

Re: Microsoft Surface

I don't really know; I have a friend who makes his living gambling so I'll ask him and let you know. I suspect it has something to do with taxes and unregualted income.

I see. That's sweet of you to ask the friend. Thanks. I'm just curious. Here where I live, they are now allowing slot machines. Before gambling was only legal on the reservations or on the cruise ships. The county stands to make a killing in taxes and I guess they will legalize black jack at some point too. I just find it interesting that the federal government would ban a potential money maker, but like you said, that unregulated income probably has something to do with it.

I'm not a gambler. But I think it's crazy for the government to restrict your right to go broke.

Re: Microsoft Surface

This just makes me wonder why TF I'd want a screen in my coffee table for $10K a piece. Don't get me wrong, it's cool and stuff, but I don't see how this is going to take off (as opposed to iPhone, which I believe will take over the world, much like iPod did).
