working for myself...
Well, barely. I put my first entry in my timesheet. hehe :-)
Brief back story, I moved to Austin, found a job doing web marketing/analytics for a startup. The startup isn't working out, turning into a part-time venture. I managed to meet some very well-connected people in the past few months and one of them happens to own a marketing consulting firm.
So they asked me to come on board as a contractor doing SEO
stuff. Got other clients lurking, planning to expand the list. Looking at my network, as long as I do a good job I'll probably be turning down work in no time. Never realized that was a possibility as I never made a conscious effort to network, I just happen to make a good impression on the right people.
I'll probably end up with a "normal" job before too long... but with any luck, this will become my normal job. I've wanted to do something like this for a while and I'm super excited. Best part is I had my first client before I could even consider the possibility of doing consulting work.
Yay for being the boss!
Oh and if you need any help marketing your website...
