my first ipod

well i never thought i would do it but i bowed to the man. i'm not into apple at all and don't like what i hear on the ipods at all. but the new shiny packaging of the new 8 gig ipod nano in all black made me drewl too much! it will be here in a week.

i have a dell dj now that i love, 20 gigs.....utilizing windows media player for ripping, syncing, etc. i'm looking forward to the nano. i heard horror stories about the battery, design, faulty drive, etc. anyway, it will be cool.

Re: my first ipod

well, the nano, doesn't have a hard drive, so i think that won't have a problem. let's put it this way, i've had an ipod mini for a year and a half now, and it hasn't crapped out on me yet. no battery issues, none of that hokey pokey crap that windows nerds like to say about apple. enjoy your new ipid dude!

thanks dude! i'm one of those windows nerds anything techy......as with pretty much most of us here on jemsite. so glad to hear there is no drive. that will solve so many issues right off the bat. i could have bought the 30 gig so i could watch movies but i opted for the new 8 gig nano with brighter screen, etc. it's newer technology with no hard drive and i don't plan on watching movies on it. tempting but not needed. can't wait.

Re: my first ipod

I'm tempted to buy a nano myself. Anyone read that review where they tried throwing it out of a car window and it still worked? Those things are indestructible, good old solid state memory. HDD's are way too fragile.

Re: my first ipod

fyi apple store has some 2gb "refurb" nanos now at $99... full warranty and brand-new-like condition. less capacity but great imho for fence sitters who just want some music on the go... glen

Re: my first ipod

Who can argue with that price, even they are refurb 2GB's? I'd snap a couple up if I could afford it right now.

Re: my first ipod

Congrats on your iPod. I have the 60G and love it! I've got 2088 songs which translates to 6.1 days of non stop music and I still have 47G free. I love the idea of having my collection with me at all times, well at least a portion of my collection(I'll get to the rest in time). It's great for the car and gym. No more messed up or lost cd! The iTunes software is very usefull too.

Re: my first ipod

Cool!
I personally think the best thing I can do with my ipod is blast "For the Love of God" (or ANY Vai!) over the crap my bus driver puts on in the morning... Great way to rebel without getting in trouble!! Hehehe!

Also, you'll love itunes if you don't already have it! Version 7 is GREAT!!! It's such an awesome way to organize your music.... Enjoy!

Re: my first ipod

oh, and whatever you do since you are running windows, don't disconnect your ipod with out ejecting on your computer first! both me and brandon screwed up ours by doing this. we got another on free in the mail from apple though. but just as a precaution since you are using windows.
