Need an SUV...

Yes. My friends and I are planning on purchasing a used SUV, about 1999 or newer.

We got hired to work at a ski resort and need an SUV that has enough power and handling to drive in snowy conditions up a mountain. Looking for one that's big enough for at least 5 good sized guys. Also intend on towing snowmobiles. Nothing too expensive, but is extremely durable and will last us for the next few years or so.

Now just for the sake of the environmentalists, don't freak. We'll leave the car at the cabin when summer time rolls around and we don't need it.

I have a 99 isuzu trooper that has never had ANY problems whatsoever besides normal normal wear and tear. I've been in a few accidents, and the meter is reading 90k but everything still works perfectly! No engine problems!

you could probably find one for 7 and a half grand.

Re: Need an SUV...

If you're looking used, buy American... they depreciate nice and fast, which means super deals for you.

Watch for the year/mileage. I forget the exact details, but banks rarely will finance a vehicle more than 5 years old and/or with over 70,000 miles (again, check you salesman for the exact numbers, if it's an honest salesman they'll tell you). You can finance such a vehicle, but the interest will be quite high. So it is likely less expensive to buy a newer vehicle(by saving on interest).

Other than that... Jeeps are famously great in crummy conditions. I *think* the Grand Cherokee is available with a 3rd row seat.
