New England Ice Storm

Hey guys, I haven't been around much since the Ice Storm hit us Thursday night, when I lost power (actually 12:30am Friday morning), and I just got it on Sunday night at 8pm. So I was without power for about 72 hours, well, your probably thinking, oh, thats not THAT bad, well it was down to about 19 Degrees F (-7 C) and no one had power, my apartment got to about 37 inside (3 degrees C). Its the longest I ever ever been without power in my life (not counting camping) My Grandmother also lost power and as of this post is STILL without power and is living at my aunts house who just got power late Saturday, so far no frozen pipes, just a flooded basement since the sump pump had no power. The entire area looks like a Tornado hit, but Tornado that didn't touch houses. This was considered one of the worse Ice Storms in recorded New England history. I will never forget trying to sleep, with no power, no heat, and listening to tree snapping sounds all around me all night, very scary.

check it out!

Re: New England Ice Storm

Damn man, I guess you guys got hit worse than us up north. I was without power for about 24 hours or so but I wasn't home for a majority of it anyways.

My work (Walgreens) was swamped with people in search of flashlights, D batteries, candles, and of course water. We sold out of all D batteries and flashlights, which was around 30 packs of D batteries on the shelf and the 'x' amount of cases that came on the truck earlier that day. I had people searching through my totes for D batteries!. We got 2 packs (yes, literally 2) and they sold out after the next two people came in the store.

Re: New England Ice Storm

That is some wicked stuff! Glad to hear you and your Grandmother are alright.
My thoughts and prayers go out to those still without power, hopefully this mess is sorted out for you all before Christmas.

Re: New England Ice Storm

I hope you guys make out OK.
After seeing how many people were out of power up there, I'll bet there is a massive baby boom in 9 months.

Re: New England Ice Storm

I live in the Albany,NY area. I too was hit hard by this storm. Obviously no power. Big tree out front destroyed which ripped the cable wire clean off the house. Birch trees laying on our power lines. I remember waking up to a power transformer exploding from the street behind my house. Now that things are just getting back to normal..snow storm tomorrow. I hate winter.

Re: New England Ice Storm

We got it here, obviously a few days before you. More snow than ice though. I was amazed, on Sunday it rained all day and was in the 40's. Late Sunday, early Monday it was below zero. Yet, no ice. I think even though the temperatures dropped a good 30 degrees in 4 hours, we still didn't get the freeze. The rain must have stopped early enough.

Anyway, good luck out there! We got about 10 inches of snow overnight, another 3-5" during the day today, 2-4" planned for Saturday night. It's coming your way!

Red face Re: New England Ice Storm

Assuming that all the humans were relatively fine...How did the guitars handle it? Everything good?
