I found a job!! I will be gong back to being a chef. I haven't cooked for a living for like 5 years cuz I was burned out and needed a break. A woman my brother goes to church with decided to buy and re-open one of our best restaurants in my area. She told my bro she was looking for a chef that many of her friends had recommended to her but couldn't remember his name. My bro told her that I used to be a chef and she asked my name. When he told her she got all excited and said that I was the guy she had been looking for and to have me call her. I did and she hired me on the spot!
Tonight, to celebrate and to start getting my cheffing chops back, I am making Crab-stuffed Flounder baked in a Vermont sharp cheddar cheese sauce, Delmonico potatoes seasoned with fresh herbs and pimentoes, and maple glazed baby carrots. Tomorrow night it's gonna be Grilled New York Strip steak with a sherry-shallot sauce, Garlic and herb mashed potatoes, and zucchini, summer squash, red peppers, and onions sauted with a bit of olive oil and roasted garlic. Monday night is gonna be Herb marinated swordfish on a bed of couscous, served with an either a tomato jam or an orange vinegrette(not sure which yet) and fresh corn on the cob.
I haven't been this excited about cooking for a very long time and it feels so good. Plus being back to work will mean lots of new guitar oriented toys for me to play with. I guess turning 40 has been pretty good after all... new job, new girl, might even become a foster parent. Damn I'm loving life right now and I hope y'all are too.
