Re: New UK Postage system

Its just another way for this country to rip us off. Higher fuel tax, some new road tax/toll scheme and the TV licsense is constantly rising. And if they build a Muslim villiage in my town like they reckon, then they are taking the ****.
This country sucks!

Re: New UK Postage system

You will care the next time you want to post a letter. It's just confusing me. I'll have to go to the post office now to sort out posting an A4 letter, where I usually stamped it and posted it in the ye old English red letter box at the end of my vintage English road.

Re: New UK Postage system

Old postage system was all done by weight only, any size can be .32pence as long as its under the weight. for example
0 - 60g = .32 pence
61g - 100 = .49 pence
101 - 150g = .68 pence etc etc up to 1250g

new postage system is done by size and weight.
A letter being 240mm x 165mm and 5mm thick weighing up to 100g = .32pence
a letter within that size but more then 5mm thick or more then 100g in weight is classed as large letter.

large letter being 353 x 250mm 25 mm thick from
0- 100g = .44 pence
101 - 250g = .65 pence etc etc up to 1250g

Packets. any item over 353mm long or or wide or over 255 mm thick
0 - 100g = 1
101- 250g = 1.27 etc etc etc up to 1250g

is that clear enough?

Re: New UK Postage system

But if you all worked at the Post it would be a different story. "All we get is a stinking measly 32 pence to carry this letter to the other side of the country, blah blah blah...". Amazing how quickly we get "used to" things that were at one time an amazing luxury. Everyone uses email now too, that has to be severely limiting their ability to keep operating for the same price.

So for me to send a large letter, is there a 44p stamp I can buy then?

Re: New UK Postage system

I reckon it's just an excuse to confuse people so they don't know what the f**ks going on so it hides just how crap the service is

Re: New UK Postage system

It certainly is confusing. I know captainoi put the explanation down, which is good of him, but that information is already on thier website. But it doesnt tell us WHAT to do. As before we just stamped it and posted it. Now looks like we might have to take a trek to the post office which makes things more time consuming, having to get time out to go to the office.
