NFL Playoffs

Hey gang, big sports fan here, as many of you already know...

Just wondering if anybody wants to chat about NFL playoffs. What team(s) are you going for? Who do you think will win the games this weekend? Any Superbowl predictions?

Here are a few of my thoughts regarding this weekend's matchups:

Peyton's Broncos will prevail over battered Big Ben's Steelers

KC upsets the Brady bunch - it's hard to bet against Brady, even though I can't stand the Pats, but I'm hoping Alex Smith will bring it on Saturday and pull off the upset

Mr. Rodgers looked pretty good last weekend but Arizona's a well rounded team and they pounced on the Packers the last time they played - I think Arizona will win this game too

Seattle and Carolina might be the game of the weekend - this would have been a great Superbowl matchup - it's hard to pick a winner here but Seattle is the NFL home team for folks in this area so I'm hoping they win

The Eagles are my pick. I may be a bit premature, like my ejaculate.

Panthers - Chiefs.

I second this. The Panthers look great.
I would LOVE to see the Chiefs beat the Patriots - not only because I'm not keen on the Patriots but I'd love to see former 49'er Alex Smith get to the big show and win it.

Side note: Looks like the Niners got your old coach, Chip Kelly, Rich. Thoughts?
I think the Dolphins and Niners have similar ownership dilemmas. Meh....

@ Mike - Agreed - I'd like to see Alex do well too...If I was a Niners fan I think I'd be a bit pissed off about how they handled Smith and gave up on him for Kapernick...

Actually in hindsight I don't think the Kaepernick / Smith thing ended with the Niner's making a bad decision. They had two great quarterbacks and had to pick one. Kaep took them to the Superbowl, and lost, but they still got there. I think Kaep has a few things going on, first of which is a crisis of confidence. I think he has an injury, didn't like Harbaugh's leaving, and in general was just mismanaged by the idiot nephew Jed York. Hopefully Chip Kelly can sort some things out... maybe.

Pretty solid picks! I would agree on them all... but I'll be pulling for the Seahawks too. I've been a Seahawks fan since the early 80's and would love to see them upset Carolina. Could be a great game... although Seattle looked terrible last weekend and really should have lost to the Vikings. Seems like when Seattle and Carloina played earlier this season it was a great matchup... Carolina came back to win at the end.

Yup, I agree with you - Seattle had no business winning that game yet they are moving on...crazy game. I think there were quite a few people including me who were hoping for a Panthers vs Seahawks matchup in the playoffs so I hope it's a good game! Should be a good weekend of football. It's supposed to rain here all weekend (big surprise in Vancouver) so I think I will be chilling indoors watching football and playing some guitar =)

COME ON BRO! I know this is after the fact, but there is no way the Chiefs are going to beat the Pats!

Re: NFL Playoffs

Ugh! Yeah, so much for the Chiefs.
I just hope a team other than the Patriots win it all.

Re: NFL Playoffs

That was a wild finish last night b/w Arizona and Green Bay! I do have a question - if a team scores a touchdown and there is no time left on the clock after the touchdown then why do they get to come back out and kick an extra point if there's no time left? I think Arizona should have won the game after GB scored the touchdown with no time left on the clock.
Also, if that game goes to OT then both teams should get a chance with the ball. A bad NFL rule in my opinion. I'm glad the Cardinals won but both those points bugged me during the game.

Re: NFL Playoffs

Ugh, the Seahawks sucked in the first half! =( They came out on fire in the 2nd half but the hole they dug themselves in the first half was too deep to get out of.

Gawd, if Carolina and New England go the Superbowl then I think I may have to watch NHL hockey during my annual Superbowl party =o[

Re: NFL Playoffs

The extra point is an untimed play, so there doesn't need to be any time left.

I love the new rule, score a TD game over. Way better than the old rule where first score [field goal] wins.

Yeah... Too bad they started out so terrible! Ran out of time. Oh well, at least they made it watchable. That first half was painful to watch.

Just watched the end of the Denver/Pitt game... Looks like the stage is set for next week. Rooting for AZ and Denver now too! Nothing against Carolina, but I'm from AZ so they are by backup team after Seattle. Not a huge Denver fan, but would sure like to see Manning beat Brady! Anyone besides the Patriots.

People get tired of seeing the same team win.

It must have been terrible for the AFC East's other teams when the Patriots won three Super Bowls in four years. I get it. Over here in San Francisco, we are thrilled with the Giants and also the Warriors. But the way the Warriors are doing now, and how the Giants won three World Series in five years it must be boring for people in other markets to watch. I know if the Warriors get into the NBA Finals again, the nation as a whole will probably root against them and Stephen Curry.

But most fans from other teams have no idea how much the Giants struggled. Since moving to San Francisco in 1958, the team didn't win a World Series until 2010. The hated rival Los Angeles Dodgers gave its city World Series Championships in in 1959, 1963, 1965, 1981, and 1988. And the Golden State Warriors' last NBA Championship was way back in 1975. Meanwhile the Los Angeles Lakers won so much in that time period it was obscene. So for both current Bay Area teams who are hated by many right now spent a combined 92 years not winning a championship title.
