YEAH!

Just for fun who do you all expect to do better or worse?

Canucks and Panthers get new head coaches.
Brad Richards is bought out. Something tells me he might go back to Tampa. Some talk of him going to the Devils but I hope that doesn't happen. NJ seems to be adopting the Lindros/Fleury/Gretsky/Jagr model of taking a risk on players past their prime. It worked somewhat for Jagr but I hope they stay away from Richards.

Re: NHL '14 - '15 BS Thread

Richards is 34 going on 50, Jagr is 42(?) going on 30. I really hope the Devs don't consider him. We need scoring, not another 20 goal guy. He was basically absent during the playoffs this year and Torts even scratched him a few times in last year's playoffs. Maybe the Flyers will sign him I'd rather cross my fingers (and save our pennies) for Stastny.

Scott Hartnell to the Blue Jackets. Flyers trade a decent 2nd line winger for a decent 'healthy scratch' and a 4th. Go FAILURES!

Re: NHL '14 - '15 BS Thread

Gaborik signs to a seven year deal with LA.
Don't get me wrong. I like Gaborik going back to the Rangers (okay so that wasn't TOO long ago) but seven years?!? IMO no contract in the NHL should be over 5 years; especially for the over 30 guys. And Gaborik is injury-prone.
Still if it works out it'll be nice to keep him on that simply devastating Brown-Kopitar-Gabork line.

No contract in ANY SPORT should be >5 years. GM/Owners can't help themselves so until this problem is corrected well see tix prices climb and climb and fans get frustrated. Teams will rely on salary cap increases to fix their problems but that comes at the fan's expense.

The NHL tried hard to limit contract length and was thwarted by the NHLPA...glen

I concur on all points...it is a problem that the players don;t want to fix and the GMs and owners need to be saved from themselves before they can hope to fix it...crazy really

I saw someone saying the other day the Flyers are like the NHL's Game of Thrones. At the end of every season main characters disappear forever... lol

I like Gaborik. I love the Kings.
But this is how its going to play out.
Gaborik gets hurt midway through next season. Hopefully it isn't something that persists for years after, leaving LA with a big financial weight.
Call Miss Cleo to verify.

IIRC Joe Sakic was signed to a one year contract when the Avs won the Cup in '01.
'Nuff said!

Looks like Dallas just got better with the Spezza trade, good for them.

Re: NHL '14 - '15 BS Thread

Jussi Jokinen to the Cats for 4 years / $16 million.
Not sure how I feel about this. Jokinen was a bit of a thorn in the side of Metropolitan teams at times. I think it'll come down to how the team gels - if at all.
Man, I'd love to see the hometown team turn it around but there seems to be a severe lack of will on the ownership side to putting a good product on the ice.

Brierre to Avs for Paranteau is likely a steal for the Habs. Oilers signed Mark Fayne from Devils and Benoit Pouiliot from Rags
