Yeah that's what I figured. Some of those rivalries were great, especially with the Hawks and Blues. And Stunner at Staples got me to watching the Kings. But we got a LOT of Michigan people here in Florida, especially in South Florida and Tampa I think, so it totally makes sense they're in our division.

Just hearing from my son - Taylor Hall to Devils for Adam Larsson, Subban to Preds for Shea Webber, and Stamkos resigned in Tampa. Not sure how many of these are true, only Devils Oilers is on NHL.com at the moment

Incredible steal for Devils IMHO. Larsson is a fine defensive defenseman, and good at actually taking the puck out of the zone rather than shooting it out, but Hall is a #1 pick in his prime, signed for 4 more years at 6MIL cap hit. Played alongside Henrique in Windsor as well. This is a flat out theft by the Devils.

WOW, that is what twitter is saying... haven't watched the Oilers much (they're unwatchable!). We have enough defenseman, a GK in his prime and no offense... nice!!

NHL forwards, 2012-16, min 1,000 minutes, ranked by 5v5 PTS/60: 1. Sidney Crosby: 2.71 2. Jamie Benn: 2.54 3. Taylor Hall: 2.49 - That is better /60 production than guys like Malkin, Stamkos, Giroux, Seguin, Kane, etc.

Ha! I had a gut feeling Stamkos would stay. Good for him! His agent is probably pissed if he left money on the table but I got a helluva lot of respect for him if hes staying to try and win the Cup.
Taylor Hall is a steal! Good on ya, Devils! Edmonton seems to have their head up their backside. Another season of playing for the top draft pick maybe? And they're building that big new arena to boot???? Ha!

Re: NHL '16-'17 BS Thread

LOL. In fairness this was a "needs" trade... EDM has a glut of forwards and young defenseman ready to play on a 1st line and PK aren't readily available in the NHL (at any salary). That said a strong 1st line winger is what NJ has needed even when Kovy/Zach were here.

Re: NHL '16-'17 BS Thread

Larsson is a good kid, I hope he follows in the Devils tradition and comes back some day I'm still surprised that the Habs traded Subban for Weber. Weber is great, but he's older, and slower besides being bigger. Makes me think the Habs front office didn't watch the playoffs this year.

Ha! Even the PS4 knows better.
I think the Habs are the Habs; arrogant to an extreme of affecting even their own players. 1993 is a long time ago. The office staff and owners don't play the game - the players do. Same I think could be said for Toronto. Maybe I'm a jerk but if I were Phil Kessel I'd put a whole bunch of hot dogs in the Stanley Cup and post a pic of myself snuggling up to it with the hashtag #torontomapleleafs.

Well, Edmonton's decisions seem to make a little more sense after they signed Lucic. I think their problems go beyond having a star forward but we'll see how it plays out. Honestly kind of sad seeing so many Canadian teams struggle for so long, especially given their histories. It seems a lot of times they're just shooting themselves in the foot.

Tell me about it!!! =(

My initial reaction on the frenzy of recent player movement is that the Devils scored big time and if I were an Oilers fan I would want the GM fired. I realize the Oilers had a specific need to be addressed but I think that was a terrible trade for them...Like Jim said, Hall is a #1 pick in his prime so I think it was a terrible move for the Oilers...

I'am also surprised by the Subban trade - and the Canadian team got ripped off in that deal too =(
