...and my Nucks got Loui Eriksson...he is a good player but for $6 million per season?!?!? Wow, is a 20 - 30 goal scorer really worth 6 million per season?!?! The GM's need to be saved from themselves...

Nice!!! ... The Devils*and restricted free agent right wing Kyle Palmieri*agreed to a five-year, $23.25 million deal, the team announced Thursday. The deal carries an average annual value of $4.65 million.

Jacob Markstrom gets $11 million for three years in Vancouver? Why?
Sorry Dorian. I saw him plenty in his time as a Panther. I still think the Canucks have goalie issues. What are they thinking???

Re: NHL '16-'17 BS Thread

Vancouver is a goalie graveyard I think the Canucks see Maarkstrom as having the potential to improve and work his way into the starter role possibly someday. That deal is less puzzling to me than the Eriksson deal where they gave him 6 million per year =o/

Well we got Lou back but BOTH our teams are probably paying for Lou.
I think the Panthers might be planning for the post Lou era. I don't know if Reimer is that guy but he seems like a solid backup goalie.
I'm really puzzled by Vancouver frankly. They used to be a thorn in many sides and now in the last few years, since the change up in divisions really, they seem to really be shaky.

me too... =( some terrible mismanagement of assets in recent years, some recent examples include getting nothing in return for Hamuis and Vrbata at the trade deadline and now they're gone with nothing in return... It will be interesting to see how they build this team over the next few years...

Re: NHL '16-'17 BS Thread

Stupid early speculation but The Hockey News put this poll up on their Facebook.
Who will win the Stanley Cup next year?

Dallas
Chicago 2
Los Angeles
Nashville
Tampa Bay 3
Washington
Pittsburgh 1
St Louis
San Jose
Anaheim

Top 3 on the poll marked. Or any other thoughts?
I'm still hoping for the Capitals to win but their window may be closing.

LOL. I see the Devs as a playoff team this year unless they suffer major injuries again. They hung in until late Jan whenCammalleri (best player) got hurt Jan missed the rest of the season.

Elias only played 8 games last year as well. Definitely we make the playoffs this year.

Very cool story about Sidney Crosby stopping by a fan's house near Sid's home town in Nova Scotia - check it out:

Re: NHL '16-'17 BS Thread

Hey guys, anyone looking forward to the World Cup of Hockey? I think it will be a good tournament with some very good hockey. My only beef is with the format of teams - why is there a Team North America and a Team Canada and a Team USA? Shouldn't it be like the Olympics where you play for your country?! Canadians should be cheering for Team Canada and Americans should be cheering for Team USA so who should be cheering for Team North America? wtf? Why isn't Nathan MacKinnon on my Team Canada? dumb format...but I do think it will be fun to watch =)
