Price of petrol in the UK

Today was the day I decided that it would be much cheaper to buy four new tyres a month, rather than fill the car up with petrol.

Where I live it's now 91.9p per litre. Mostly going to the government, not the petrol/oil companies.

About 5 years ago, there was a major protest at the cost of petrol, which brought the country almost to stand still, as there was hardly any petrol at the pumps due to protesters blocking petrol tankers, which affected the dependants of fuel, such as workers travelling to work and also supermarket delivery trucks, hence almost empty shelves.

So, now a question, apart from why do the fat over fed goverment want so much tax from us all the pissing time. Where the hell are the protesters now? Petrol has never been so expensive here. When the protests were on, the petrol was much much cheaper than it is now!

Where have the protesters gone? I'd most certainly join in a protest. It's high bloody time this government realised this country is OURS and NOT THIERS. There are a damn sight more of us than there is of those fat greedy buggers, so why are we letting them get away with this crap?

When I pass my test I'll be filling my tank with Crisp N' Dry, I'm just worried about smelling like a chippy.

Seriously though, even if you use vegetable oil in a diesel tank the government want to charge you extra for that too!

Thats why filling up with veg oil is illegal, becasuse Henry the 8th never really died.

The tyrany has impanted into the minds of the government, that they want to force you to buy things and charge you taxes on it aswell as the tiny amount of money that is actually going to the companies that make what we buy! - PETROL MOSTLY

Re: Price of petrol in the UK

I saw 12 NOK+ for the first time in ages today. That's a little over £1 per litre. Not good, especially for people like me who drive old cars. 95 octane won't do, so I usually pay 5% more (or something like that). Not good.

Oh man, you fill 98? How old is your car? I've got (amongst others) a 1985 Mercedes-Benz 230TE and it runs fine on 95 unleaded fuel.

1 litre = 0.264172051 US gallon
1GBP = 1.77927 USD

The actual math, I leave it to you...

Yes, we know, but it's still a rip off here.

Re: Price of petrol in the UK

One word describes it....CRIMINAL
Notice how the government don't drive these crap little rabbit hutches that do a zillion to the gallon that they think we should! I'm just glad i use a company van for work, coz otherwise i wouldn't be able to afford to keep my beloved chevy (Yank motors RULE )
Isn't our gallon different to a US gallon though, when working out the conversion?!

Re: Price of petrol in the UK

looks like its (around) 4 litres to a US gallon...and if its (around) 1 GBP per litre, thats 4 GBP per gallon 4x 1.77 = 7.08....

again, this is all rounded up for simplicity...its probably closer to $6.50 ish..

It's a '73 Volvo 164. It would be best to drive on 98 Leaded, but it's not easy to find, so I also use a lead substitute fluid (blyerstatningsmiddel).
