Question about ordering from Ishibashi

So, I've seen Ishibashi mentioned here and elsewhere. So, my question is this:

Are any of you that live in the U.S. actually ordering from Ishibashi? If so, how are you doing it?

I've gone to Ishibashi's site a few times, and even with Chrome's built-in translator, I find it nearly unusable due to the language difference. I can barely figure out how to navigate, much less how much things cost. I can't imagine actually trying to get through an online checkout/payment process.

Am I missing something?

They wont ship new guitars out of Japan from what I understand, only used.

And there's more than one way to check their stock. Use this link, it's much easier.

http://store.ishibashi.co.jp/ec/proL...etSearchType=0

Also, if chrome translate stops working, just refresh the page on a new tab. The 'outside Japan' way IS difficult to navigate, for me anyway. Sean777 is also correct about the 2nd hand guitars.

Re: Question about ordering from Ishibashi

I can't speak for new guitars, but I bought a used Genesis series RG550RFR a couple years ago. Jason at Ishibashi was exceptionally easy to deal with - I was connected via a mutual facebook friend, but I think he monitors their US/english language contact email, as well.

Re: Question about ordering from Ishibashi

I bought a few guitars from them over the years, and got them crazy fast. my only concern was one time they waited a full 3 months before charging my credit card, which freaked out the wife a bit. Other than that, no complaints. I would order from them again if I saw something I liked, like a cheap UV or something.

Re: Question about ordering from Ishibashi

I bought from ItchyScratchy back when it was a good place to shop. Now it's ridiculous, with rare occasion, the pricing is stupid. JEM20 for a million Yen?! Yea, right. Common guitars like RG/R/S's you're FAR better buying in your own country, unless you live in Afghanistan where Ibanez is as shunned as women.

Back when you could buy new DNA's shipped for $2500, it was a different story altogether. I just looked thru all 4 pages of the U-Box, a couple decent JC prices and that was it.

It may vary a bit for the scarcer guitars - the yen is awfully weak compared to the dollar these days, so I got that 550 for quite a bit less than I'd have expected a comparable guitar to cost in the States. then again, they may have had enough time to adjust their pricing - I bought right around the time the dollar started strengthening.

EDIT - that 20th IS pretty ridiculously optimistic, though - about $9,500 shipped, USD, which I haven't been following pricing on these but that seems high.

Re: Question about ordering from Ishibashi

It's only at 106, I was buying when it was 132. When it got to 85 I was selling to them. At 106 it's still pathetic, let me know when it cracks 120 again and I'll start looking more seriously.

Blame the Fed for that - they stopped hiking the Fed Funds rate, and reversed the dollar's strengthening. Which, admittedly, with inflation still weak, domestic growth tepid, and the global market shock their first hike caused, it's hard to really blame them.

Doesn't matter how it gets where, all that matters is where it is

Eh, I work for a bond manager - for us it matters a huge deal how it gets there, because we want to be ahead of it.

Re: Question about ordering from Ishibashi

Or when Itchy Scratchy charges you 3 months after the buy and by then you could be really upside down in the deal?
