Ibanez is actually pronounced "ee-bah-nez".... I cant imagine ever saying that lol.

we say like this in Brazil too.
ee-ban-nez.
so, saying Ai-be-niz is kinda strange for us too.

and the topic title fits perfectly. it's a really random thread, though...

i thought it was more like ee- bahn- yez

they were initially brought to the US and import guitars didnt go so well except for spanish guitars so they used a spanish name.... to help sales

e-bah-nez is the "spanish" pronounciation of it, "eye"-bah-nez is the official term for the guitars for some reason, not sure why.
