Rant: The new Dallas Cowboys Stadium

Now, I may be in a small minority here, in that I absolutely detest professional sports, with the exception of fighting sports. Never understood why people obsess over it so much and never will. I love PLAYING whatever sports with friends or whatever, but I'd rather play with a plastic bag kite than go to a game.

Anyway,

I'm going to school in a town sandwiched between Dallas and Fort Worth, and the location of the worlds largest dome stadium. It's architecturally breath-taking, but to think that it is necessary to spend billions dollars to making a big room with lots of seats to "entertain" people saddens me.

but that's not the reason I'm mad.

You would think that such a marvelous feat of engineering would be placed in the best place possible. No. It's off of a 5 lane street with a million smaller lanes criss-crossing eachother. It's right next to a whole lot of restaurants, a whole lot of shopping areas, a large university, and right next to it is the city's most accessible Wal-Mart.

I was trying to make some Chicken Tikka Masala for my girlfriend, when I found out that the rice cooker died. No problem, off to Walmart for a new...little did I know, that something huge was happening at the just opened stadium, and it was hell. Roads were blocked off, a huge number of police officers and resources were wasted to direct traffic, turning was blocked, pedestrians were crawling all over streets with their foam fingers and those little triangle flags.

I swear, I wanted to _______ every single with a ****ing Cowboys shirt I saw because over the past few days (got back to Arlington on last Monday from break), seeing the blue and silver logo every where I turn my head causes me physical pain. Every where I look is the cowboys logo...windows, cars, in the mall, on campus.....It's like a plague.

Even worse, there was construction on the roads that forced half a mile of backed up traffic in two one or two lanes. So while I am blasting Gorgoroth in my stereo to get my mind off of how stupid people are for paying 60 dollars to park in someone's driveway to walk a half a mile to the stadium, a convoy of limousines strolls past the traffic like nothing, because apparently long black cars ALWAYS have the right of way.

Last year it took me 5 minutes to get to Walmart, today it took over 45 minutes, because the walmart entrances were blocked off and I had to loop around the city to get to the other side.

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

The moral of the story - If you enjoy and support football, I hate you for making my life suck. Now, this traffic hell might only be here only once in a while for important events, but i have noticed a great deal of traffic elsewhere in the city since I got back in town. Innocent bystanders who want nothing to do with such barbaric entertainment must suffer. Thanks. Thanks alot. I cannot tell you how much I despise the 'American sports culture'.... I love chicken wings and beer just as much as anyone, but for the love of God, what the hell is the matter with you people, it's just some people running around on a field with a ball.

Re: Rant: The new Dallas Cowboys Stadium

Yeah I hear ya buddy, not a fan of pro sports either.

Why should I waste my time wacthing men do things with their lives and get paid for it, when I could be busy doing something else with my time.

I find watching other people do sport makes me feel like im wasting my time.. Id rather kick a football then watch some other guy kick a football, even if he can kick it twice as far.

If I had the opportunity to train 6 days a week, id be good at many sports also...

Which is probably why watching sport is so popular, because most people can play most sports, so its easy for them to identify with teams and wacthing etc...

But in the end it makes me feel like im wasting my life watchin men get fit and enjoy their day, when I could be doing the same... and I do...

I really also hate pro sports. I enjoy watching martial arts matches though ( No UFC doesn't count as a martial-arts match, it's more like brawling.). In America we have a tendency to waste money, time, and other resources.

Re: Rant: The new Dallas Cowboys Stadium

sounds like you have an issue with your local government and their total ineptitude and misspending tax dollars, subsidizing such stadiums (like the baseball stadium too) for billionaire football owners.

i enjoy some pro sports for what they are but they're better enjoyed at home watching on a computer or HDTV imho... glen

If you don't like pro sports, you are in the wrong town, my friend. A move to Wyoming might be good for your blood pressure.

Small world.... My sister used to live in the apartment complex that is sandwiched between ranger stadium and Jerry Jones' penis extension / stadium there in Arlington.
