Recommend a Bruce Lee Movie

Other than the 'violence'. Are they kid friendly? I want to watch one with my son. But am not sure if there is foul language and nudity. Which would be a good first Bruce Lee movie to watch?

Re: Recommend a Bruce Lee Movie

Afaik, there's only a 'Green hornet' series, which stars Bruce Lee?

I haven't seen all Bruce Lee movies, but I have never heard much profanity in those that I have seen, iirc.

'The secret of NIMH' is a nice one to watch with your kids, Darin. Just an idea. You could click on the pic for the trailer.

I'd recommend the game of death - although I don't remember the levels of violence or profanity . . . just awesome fights. The blood looks fake in those movies anyway - it all looks just painted on.

My favourites are

way of the dragon(contains nudity) and enter the dragon

watch them before you wath it with your son so you can decide on the level of violence that are in the films

Re: Recommend a Bruce Lee Movie

I watched them all as a kid and they never effected me in any way. Well except for those two kids I beat to death after watching Game of Death. BUT apart from that I'm a pretty sane person

Re: Recommend a Bruce Lee Movie

I can only recommend Game Of Death for the fight scenes at the end. Bruce died before filming anything else for that film, and the studio used a stand-in for the bulk of the movie. Whenever the film had to do close-ups of his face, they used footage from his earlier films or they, literally, pasted a still photo of Bruce's face over the stand-in's face. The editing of the film is absolutely laughable. Horrible, horrible stuff. Also, the studio completely re-wrote the script and took it a million miles away from the film Bruce was intending to make before his death. Still, the last three fight scenes that actually have Bruce in them are some of his best work. Oh, and the John Barry musical score is good too. Very James Bond-ish. That's about all the good things I can say about the movie.

For production quality and acting, Enter The Dragon is the best of Bruce's five films. There is a very small amount of nudity,(a flash of a breast here and there). Also, it's about Bruce trying to infiltrate an opium ring - so there is the drug issue to consider when looking at it from a kid's point of view.

The other films are all made in Hong Kong and, unfortunately, the only versions you can get here in the States are BADLY dubbed. Still, I'll recommend Return Of The Dragon for the fight scene with a very young Chuck Norris. The rest of the film is pretty silly but that scene is worth sitting through the rest for.

Enter the Dragon all the way...Fist of Fury is sweet too, and it has Jackie Chan's first stunt role!

Re: Recommend a Bruce Lee Movie

i watched enter the dragon to death as a kid, my old man just taped over the bad bits where he beats the guy to death and the nudity scene, a few years later i took to him with my nunchucks. i'm pretty F*!"ing sure that there is no profanity. on a serious note, i think it was his best film. its a top film and it was good of my old man to do this in retrospect, sometimes you forget all the good stuff they do for ya. Enter the Dragon is by far the best but I remember nudity and a few other moments that might be awkward explaining to the young one. I agree with the Green Hornet suggestion.
Too bad they gave Kung Fu to Caradine rather than Bruce.
