Slayer guitarist Jeff Hanneman Passes away

Straight from their Facebook feed:

Slayer is devastated to inform that their bandmate and brother, Jeff Hanneman, passed away at about 11AM this morning near his Southern California home. Hanneman was in an area hospital when he suffered liver failure. He is survived by his wife Kathy, his sister Kathy and his brothers Michael and Larry, and will be sorely missed.

Our Brother Jeff Hanneman, May He Rest In Peace (1964 - 2013)

I am shocked and last I heard over last few months he was getting much better over spider bite last year. However, what caused the liver failure now?

Very much a bummer. Heinekens will be hoisted and Reign in Blood through South of Heaven cranked at volumes the neighbors will find merciless in his memory tonight.

Apparently, Jeff liked Heinekens, too:

A very sad day, indeed and the worst being what I suspected from all Kerry King was saying leading up to today.

Yeah, the irony wasn't lost on me. I hate Heineken. And re: Kerry's comments, you said it man.

I was never a Slayer fan either, but their impact on music and their place in metal history is undeniable. This is definitely a major, major loss.

RIP Jeff.

Re: Slayer guitarist Jeff Hanneman Passes away

Shi*ty news indeed

Now Slayer is the annoying, popular guitarist, and the singer who doesn't stand by even a fourth of his lyrics. Can't wait to hear the next album. . . . . . . (sarcasm)

RIP Jeff. I always liked your ESP's and ability to write a solo with real substance.

I am sure Kerry and the rest of the band struggled mightily to try and help Jeff. My band is going through a member with a very severe alcohol problem right now. It really, really sucks! I read Kerry's comments and he basically said the same thing I was leading up to his death. I sure hope we don't lose our guy but it does look quite hopeless.

All the money, fame, and respect can't save you and Jeff seemed to have it all. This reminds me of when Kurt Cobain died.
