Talking Smoke Free

Well, I haven't had a cigarette for practically 7 days now, if i don't count the lapse I had when i went out in belgium it's near 2 weeks.

Now I have to admit I am still craving them while doing things like work due to mental associations, but for the rest i've been, well, not missing it at all, not even noticing that I haven't smoked.

It's bizarre, but for some reason it seems to be going better than normal (fingers crossed etc). Hopefully the weed will stay away permanently this time!

(besides, upon turning 28 I lost the right to die at 27 as an unfulfilled talent sadly killed by addiction)

Re: Smoke Free

Congrats! It's been 5 weeks since I've had a smoke and I feel great! Hope you make it through and stay strong to fight the urges.

Re: Smoke Free

Yep, I finally figured 5£ and over was too much to pay for cigarettes and that 20+ a day just wasn't good for me or for my wallet, the girlfriend doesn't smoke and i got tired of going outside for a smoke.

Last time i quit i managed 8 months or so, but hopefully this'll be permanent, as my lungs were really suffering, as was my breathing.

Re: Smoke Free

I've been done for well over a year now. However, I think running a bar I tend to have about 50+ a day because of other smokers anyway!

As much as I know it's hypocritical, I HATE smoking now.

Re: Smoke Free

I've said it before, but quitting is easy - I've done it hundreds of times!

Seriously, best of luck. I fell off the wagon numerous times before finally considering myself an ex smoker.

Re: Smoke Free

One suggestion I will make though, is not to go for gimmicks like nicorette patches. They just keep you hooked on nicotine, why else would they sell them?

Re: Smoke Free

Congratulations to all you guys trying to give it up. Keep at it. It does get eaiser and you will feel better for it.

I was lucky. I had no intentions of giving it up, but one day I woke up and didnt feel like a smoke, so I didnt have one. That was 14 years ago.

My mum is trying now. She had her last just after midnight on new years day. She smoked for 40+ years, 50+ smokes a day. She was saying earlier "Its only been 6 days". I told her not to look at it in days, look at it as 300+ smokes she hasn't smoked.

Anyway, all the best guys.

BTW, after a month or so, wait until you smell had disgusting other smokers and especially ashtrays smell.

Re: Smoke Free

Yeah, money's a motivator. 2 packs a day would be about $1800 every year. Quitting smoking is like giving yourself a nice raise. ;-)

Re: Smoke Free

Best of luck to all you guys! Luckily, I never started that nasty habit. My thinking was - if it don't get you HI......then why smoke it, lol. That's still my thinking which hints to a little different kind of smoke Anyhow - I've seen several of my friends struggle with cig addiction for years and STILL can't kick it.

One futher thing....I'd rather smell **** than nasty cigarette smoke! ~GAG~

Two packs a day here would be 3650£+ , one pack 1825£+. That's a lot of cash!
