So frustratingly bored...

I was made redundent on March 31st and I am SO bored. I have been applying for jobs left, right and centre and attended interviews but noone wants me
Starting to get a little desperate now as after next month we wont be able to afford a mortgage any longer as it will be 1 income coming in

So if anyone has an IT jobs going around the Leeds UK area, please PM me the details... alternatively, post me a pot noodle or two...

No particular area - more of an all rounder;
Operating Systems: Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows NT 4, Windows 2003, RedHat Linux
Office Applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, AutoRoute, Publisher + more
Internet Applications: Blackberry Enterprise Server, Apache, MySQL, Outlook, Outlook Express, FrontPage, Fireworks, Internet Explorer, FTP, SSH/Telnet, Dreamweaver + more
Other Applications: Paintshop Pro, ActiveSync, various anti-spam software, cd writing software, InstallShield, Borland Database Desktop + more
Hardware: Laptops, desktops, PDAs, backup devices, networking, Wireless Routers, printers + more
Programming: HTML, PHP, InstallShield Scripts, MS-DOS. Also had exposure with C, C++, Pascal, Modula/2 and Assembler.
Networking: Wi-Fi, LAN, WAN, TCP/IP, Mobile Telecommunication (GSM, GPRS, 3G etc)
Other: Ability to train people, software development/ testing

My last position was Development Coach - trained 14 new starters to become #1 in the department in customer satisfaction. I acheived this the 2nd month they went live (1st month they came 2nd!).

Before that I was a senior technical support co-ordinator / IT Manager - was only me in IT there and I looked after 16 depots, 80 remote users and 130 users in total.

Re: So frustratingly bored...

ooooo... Leeds is up north, London down south.

That's a damn fine resume, most IT guys these days (have you heard me, "these days" I'm 23! lol) only know how to stick a machine together and get Windows running.

I'm working on getting past that stage, lol

Wow, can't believe you can't get a job with your experience! Mind you all the best paid jobs seem to be around the south-east/London area. I myself have to commute to London most days from the midlands!

Good luck with job search and if I hear of anything going, I'll let you know bud.

Re: So frustratingly bored...

It's more of a case that people want more specialist skills here, and some of which I don't have.
I am trying to get a job with Link but they want someone who is very skilled in Active Directory - i've had some exposure but not loads... but I have other skills that others may not have such as Blackberry Enterprise Server and GPRS network skills - both of which they want...

Re: So frustratingly bored...

Just an update...

Still unemployed but had another interview yesterday. The company loved me and I have a 2nd interview on Friday. They told the recruiter that I was the strongest candidate because of my "no sh*t" attitude (They asked me if I was quick at picking up new skills. My reply was "If you ask anyone who attends these interviews this question, they ALL will say "Yes, I am fast at learning new skills". I AM fast at picking them up - for example in the space of a weekend, I learnt how to setup Apache, MySQL, PHP, Perl on a Linux box hosted in America and setting it up so it serves webpages as well as hosting peoples sites").

Possibly starting on Tuesday... got another interview tomorrow which also I am pretty sure I will get too....
