Some news...

The girlfriend and I are getting married! And crazier yet? She proposed to me. Last Wednesday night after dinner. She had a ring and everything. We set a date, June 16th 2007. It's neat, a few of you know, my Mom is battling liver cancer, her birthday is June 16th. Beth knew her birthday was in June but didn't realize it was the 16th. She comes home the day after and says, "How's June 16th sound?" It was cool.
So yeah, we're pretty stoked about it all. We're getting married at her parents house, outside. It's their first daughter to be wed so it's gonna be a pretty big deal. Live band and all that...
Most of you old timers are invited if you can make you're way up here... haha

Yep - same here - congrats - make it a special day!

Is Nova Scotia as lovely as it seems in The Shipping News by Annie Proulx (great book by the way)?

I've never seen it but it is nice here. You have new cities, old cities, country side, beaches, harbours filled with sewage, downtown areas that smell a lot like piss, homeless people sleeping next to the entrance to the main Halifax branch of the TD Bank. There are quite a few old fishing communities with houses that show just how old they are. Its quite neat.

Ha ha ha - my brother went out with a Singaporean girl for a few years, and not only was she hilarious, but she was also the most scarily direct and focussed girl I'd ever met. I think she had an IQ of about 500 - very intimidating indeed - we're still friends today even though they never see each other any more.

The harbour sounds (smells?) er, interesting..... I could be wrong, but I thought at least the book was set in Nova Scotia - I'm originally Scottish, so the name sticks in my mind - Chef21 - do you serve Squidburgers? (gotta read the book....)

Cheers

David

Re: Some news...

Congrats! That is such great news! I wish you both all the best! My beautiful bride and I have been married almost 12 years now (June 25th), and every day just gets better than the one before.

Remind us all next year of the date and we'll try and make it up!
