Red face Song posting?

When you post a song or a link to a song, video, live clip of your original music, are you looking to just share, add potential fans, or really get specific feedback?

Re: Song posting?

When I post song, which I've only done a few times, I do it mostly because I like to get some feedback. Most days I wake up thinking I suck at guitar and should sell all my gear and buy a zither so getting encouraging feedback when I play something half decent is nice =)

Re: Song posting?

Sale here, when post new musics and I don't seek for success but I like to have some feedbacks about my creations. I have limited ressources and knowledge in DAW (in music too actually) so I try figure something out of it.

Red face Re: Song posting?

The problem I think I have with listening to songs, is that I can't listen objectively. I can't just listen to it as your art, I listen to it with intense scrutiny. Then I want to post what my actual thoughts are, but sometimes they're harsh. Not harsh as in mean, but harsh as in realistic and constructive. So I don't wind up sharing the critique, because I don't know what people want from those that are checking it out.

I wish guys who posted would let everyone know if they were just sharing for their own indulgence at finishing a project, or if they actually want developmental feedback.

well I feel like I have the same feelings when I give some feedback, it never is objective.
On the other hand, when I share a new piece of music, I sometimes get some feedback that I consider negativein the first place but this is not the case, this is a way-more-objective-than-me-about-my-music feedback that can open doors to new perspectives.
Positive feedback would actually not improve your musical creativity, unless you just posted the song of the year.
