Song to teach my GF on bass . . .

So . . . . here's my idea. I'm gonna teach my gf to play a song on bass, and then I'm gonna play the guitar parts. It'll be a blast. Problem is, she has no musical experience other than some horn thingy in high school, and has very, very tiny hands (meaning stretches of more than maybe 1-2 frets are OUT) - I'm not kidding. They're like child hands.

So I need some ideas. Some catchy songs she'll like, hopefully with some goofy lyrics, that she can play with one finger in her sleep. I'm amazed she even thinks it'd be fun - but I'm not about to let the opportunity for an "apartment band" go to waste.

Any help would be appreciated . . .

Ah thanks guys. Keep 'em coming!

Right now I'm kinda sold on running with the devil. Duhn, duhn, duhn, duhn, ... I think she can handle that.

I've got a better idea, especially if your girlfriend is live in and you share an apartment. Get her a short scale bass like an SG or a Jaguar: it will be easier on her small hands and fingers, and then teach her a ton of songs

If you want to go that route, I'd be happy to scout out/find some options for you too.

Oooooh that's a good idea. I'll see how she finds it with the bass I've got. She might hate it for reasons other than not being able to reach frets.

"(Anasthesia) Pulling Teeth" -Metallica

Actually "Nothing Else Matters" is a good choice that somebody mentioned. "Purple Rain" would be another good one.

Re: Song to teach my GF on bass . . .

There are lots of good songs mentioned and get her a 30" inch bass like Artcore or Fender Bronco or Mustang bass.

Down on the Corner by CCR
It is easy to play and catchy. I showed my wife this several years ago and within three months she was playing a few Red Hot Chili Peppers songs. I am not kidding. She is a great player.
