As some of you know, I'm a bartender at an Italian restaurant on the weekends. You should know that I don't drink often at all (4 times a year?), but I love the art form that is mixology.
I spend a lot of time pouring tall beers and short glasses of wine........ mostly red's.......a WHOLE lot of Chianti!!! I also get to make a lot of mixed drinks, but they're of the usual variety and not very interesting. Occasionally I get to make old-timer drinks such as a Rob Roy, an Old Fashioned, or something of the like. Rarely, I get a request for something interesting or new...... let face it, this is a family Pizzaria......not a hip club
Anyway, I got an unusual request from a semi-regular customer that started me on a quest.
THE BACON MARY!!!
I promised her I'd have this drink ready for her on this Saturday coming. Today I taught myself how to properly infuse vodka with a delicious smokey bacon flavor.......... here are my results
I'm still working on the perfect garnish and presentation, but the hard part is over.
I'm hoping other lovers of Spirits, mixology, or just creative souls will get involved in this thread and share their recipies, creations, and most of all....... your stories.
