Cool Re: swirled driver.... again boring!

Awesome, just awesome... I'm as mad for swirls as the next Ibanez addict and (shamefully) admit i play some golf too.. this is a home run for me!

Not sure what admitting this will do for any future posting - best to come clean about these things maybe. Can someone dig the rock thing and play golf? gonna go pick up my little ol' UV777BLK and think about this some more...

Re: swirled driver.... again boring!

cheers, loads of rock guys play golf but keep it on the low down me thinks, i used to work at the belfry and plenty of rock guys turned up to try and get on back in the 90's. cheers for the comment, ive done other drivers in the past but this is the last for a while as they are a pain, and hard also, my clear coat is not going to take the abuse of golf ball impacts at 120 like powder coating will, so you need to be good or these things are runined in an afternoon on the range.
heres one i did last year, got a bit of T&A in on the shot too, just like an evilbay add.

Re: swirled driver.... again boring!

I would consider swirling my driver... it would at least be a good conversation piece on the course.

If ya can't hit it, it may as well be nice to look at!

I should know. I use a 1-iron to clean out my rain gutters on the house!

I don't think he is telling, cause that's one of the biggest secrets among swirlers..

Re: swirled driver.... again boring!

Didn't read the whole thing to see if it tells the type of paint. But maybe this'll help. It was the first google hit. Not really a secret.

http://www.geofex.com/Article_Folders/swirlpaint/swirlpnt.htm

Looks darn hard to do it right.

Re: swirled driver.... again boring!

I've never swirled anything, but it's a legitimate art that is more dependent on the creative skill of the artist than the type of paint.
I bet you could give away the "recipe," all the brand names of the products, quantities, times, whatever. It would still require a creative touch in muddling the paint on top of the water, dipping/manuevering the object being swirled, etc.

Re: swirled driver.... again boring!

I can agree with some of that, but some paint will obviously work better than others.

As far as actually doing it, I don't think you need a lot of skill in the artist department (I don't mean people that swirl aren't artist cause some of them are, just that you don't need to be one to make something you like, just experiment).

You just need to be creative, I think everyone on the planet can arrange some colors in a somewhat random pattern they like. More importantly you need to know how to work with the paint. This I can only see coming with a lot of experimenting and note taking.
