Too heavy for old farts ;)

AUTHORS NOTE: This is NOT an example of quality, thoughtful modern metal. This is just two guys stringing together the heaviest riffs and beats they can think of. And they're both kick ass players too!

Anyway. I heard this today and I really wanted to hear what you old guys thought of stuff like this .

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lCeRWaIh5Hw

Again, don't let quality, well thought out metal take a bad name for this. This is just a fun band to bang my head to!

The video clip is funny, the music is **** though as far as I'm concerned. Sure the players are very technically proficient, but I can't stand that sort of metal, it really just becomes noise. And I like Meshuggah.

That's a 33 year old's perspective anyway.

RYC do something or I'll fly there and kick his greasy ass
Too heavy?
Not even close.
Too much distortion sounds like noise and not heavy, heaviness comes from the whole mix pumping in your face, the more distortion you add the less dynamics and pumping you have.
That's not heavy, it's flat and it's noise to me.
About music..........hmm............too boring to my ears.

Re: Too heavy for old farts ;)

I hate cookie monster vocals, I am more of a melodic metal guy but I like the brutal guitars and such, just dont see too many metal bands with brutal guitars and melodic singers. I guess thats why I still like Testament.

This wasn't bad, and it has nothing to do with being young or old, it has more to do with if you like *** porn or not. I like that they are not taking things too serious.

Try it with headphones. The mix is heavy. I totally agree about it being boring though. I don't listen to this much.

And I also agree with Stealth.

Re: Too heavy for old farts ;)

The funny thing is tastes have nothing to do with ages.
I mean some old farts like metal while the whole teen army loves Bieber and that teen crap music which old farts can't stand.
I guess old farts are more metal than new farts emotwilight lovers.
Oh and old farts smell more metal too

Exclamation Re: Too heavy for old farts ;)

This 45-year old f*ck only hears noise and sees a couple of kids having fun. Nothing wrong with that. But dare not call the background noise to thge video "music" for crying out loud!!

Regards,

JP

Re: Too heavy for old farts ;)

Dude, that noise is definitely music. Not the best music, but it still has 2 guitars, real drums and audible bass so it's better than most other modern crap

If it redeems my musical taste for you guys, listen to Cynic or Nile. Lots more thought and time put into it. Like a mature form of metal.

Though if you really listen, there are a lot of accents used in the song that are very well thought out and not used often in modern stuff.

Re: Too heavy for old farts ;)

I like the music, but I am getting tired of the screamo style of singing,, it was cool when it first came out but has since gotten stale. I am also a fan of KSE,Meshuggah and such and a 33 year old bastard
