Re: Took some pics with the new camera
You've bought the right camera, congrats. Now try NOT to spend thounsands of dollars on lenses. :0)
Myself, I'd get 18-70mm lense with that D50. I have one myself (use it with D200) and it's great. You can get it for $200 used, which is what I paid for mine. You seem to like macro, and there's no better choice than Nikon for that. 60mm f/2.8, 105mm f/2.8 (VR and no VR), 200mm f/4 - they're all stunning lenses.
You MUST buy a tripod and a ballhead if you want to see what your camera is capable of. These two can cost as much as $1K if you want top of the line, but if you don't have a problem with carrying a bulky and heavy tripod, Bogen 3021 with 488RC2 ballhead can be had for $250.
You also need a prime lens. A lot of folks buy 50mm f/1.8 or f/1.4. I would advise to buy 35mm f/2 instead. It's a much better focal length for "crop" cameras. It's a light, well built and extremely sharp lens with pleasing bokeh. It also can be had for less than $200.
