Tracking Stolen Guitars

Another post got me thinking but not enough to go find the answer myself.

Couldn't you put some type of GPS tracker in your guitar to find it if it was stolen?

Thats funny, I was thinking about that a year or so ago. I would love to see the look on the peoples face when the cops showed up at their door. F***ING Priceless!!

Exactly. Having read some of the post here and on CL about guys having all their guitars stolen I would flip out if it happened to me and I could not get them back. I would however be very hard not to go beat the **** out of the guy who stole your stuff before calling the cops.

Yes--you can!
Great thread, too.
I know of a great little GPS tracker that will do the trick.

I'll post a list of resources in here.
Thanks, Cosmic--for bringing this up.

Re: Tracking Stolen Guitars

I went and did a quick look and there are some out there that are not that bad price wise. However it would be hard to fit one in the guitar itself but they would fit in the case ok and be easier to change the batteries in.

I haven't gigged in 20yrs and nowadays my guitars don't leave our house. Our two pure breed black German Shepperds keep those out when we are not here.

Re: Tracking Stolen Guitars

I want to put one of these in all of my guitars.

Even the most common of black RG570's. Because if I still own it, it means that it connected with me in a way that others did not. Can't lose that. Even on a $100 Squier.

Why not?
People in Rio put them in their kids cause in the summer beaches are so damn crowded that a lot of them get lost.
Why not in guitars?
What about a pickup that could shock thieves while breaking strings when its owner pushes its remote control just like with cars?
Then owners will add a small cam to watch thieves faces while being shocked
