Uhhh... Buying a new computer and hello and some stuff like that

Hello there my Jemsiter brothers,
I have missed you. I really did. I was unable to write here before because of a stupid examination called "OSS" to place students in universties, I had to study. Now that the results are announced I look for a university that is suitable for me. I did reasonably well (I am 1855th of nearly 1.7 million students), and face a major indecision.
I could study medicine and be a doctor, bur I don't think much of this. The other option is studying Mechanical Engineering, and doing MBA on top of that. But I can't decide between Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering... I would really like to hear your advices on this matter and your thoughts about these professions.

The second reason that I seek your advices is that I'm on the verge of buying a new computer. And I know quite well that there are some real computer gurus over here.
I am again facing an indecision. Intel iMac 20" is just sexy, and with a 2 gb RAM boost, it would be even sexier. And then, there is the MacBook Pro 2.1 ghz which is just as sexy. And then again, I could put together a computer bits by bits.
At this point I need some help. I always hear this stuff. PC and Mac. Are these concepts concern the OS of the computer or does it go a little deeper than that?
With the Core 2 Duo in horizon I think rather highly of the 3rd option but I don't know if I should go that way. I mean the other two will undoubtedly have better architectural design but they lack the Conroe, and some other things...
Your advices on this matter are welcome as well...

Thanks in advance.

And, it IS really nice to be back.

Cheers

Can you dabble a little in both and decide which you want to study a little while later?

Re: Uhhh... Buying a new computer and hello and some stuff like that

buy the mac 20" and load it up with ram. I own a Mac mini with a gig of ram upgraded and it performs 3x better than my old XP machine with a hell of alot more specs.

I have never had a single issue with it, and I push it hard with recording, 3D Graphics, and also heavy Photoshop useage. Its a incredible machine, and you will be glad you bought the Mac.

Now im going to put my Flame suit on cause I know the Windows guys are lurking and ready to pounce.

I have a PC, but have always heard great things about Mac's. For me it was just a cost issue.

Re: Uhhh... Buying a new computer and hello and some stuff like that

And I've always used PCs and hated their instability and always heard great things, and this time father agreed to get whatever I wanted to get so I want to make a good choice. I want a computer that I will use for some 5 years and don't hate it. I am not a heavy gamer, will play world of warcraft and some other things only...
