Ultimate drum set?

I know when people want a killer amp, they get a 180w multi-channel Boogie. And on here something like a Jem EVO would be about the coolest you can get in electric guitar land. But what about drums? I do hear drummers GAS for a Yamaha Recording set and such and such line of Zildjians and Aquarian heads.

Anybody out there do this stuff? (ps - I had cheap Pearl MX100 and MX1000 sets with Remo white heads and used '60s Zildjians.)

Re: Ultimate drum set?

I think heads and cymbals are too personal to be GASsed for. Drums on the other hand...

I''ve gassed for those Yammies. But also for Ludwig acrolites. I have historically used Sabian cymbals and remo heads. Paiste RUDEs do look interesting again as well as all the new models coming out. I have dreamed of a kit like Tommy Aldrige's

The biggest issue with this kind of gas is space. That makes it really difficult.

Sabian AAX and HHX cymbals here. I also prefer Remo heads. I GASed over Pearl kits for a long time because I like the look. I am wanting a reference series kit now. currently Vision VBA with Demon Drive kick and a Chad Smith snare. Always GASing for new snares.

Re: Ultimate drum set?

Though I never got good at drums my first love was Pearl because of Peter Criss of KISS. I really did believe there was no other drums than those, lead guitars being only sunburst Les Pauls, and rhythm guitars being only Ibanez Icemen.

When I first heard about Yamaha Recording Series was when I got into U2. Larry Mullen had a righteous set and sound.
